Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

BETTER THAN GOLD

Proverbs 16:16 "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver."

Dear Lord, Wealth can be lost or stolen.  But wisdom, once gained can never be lost or taken away.  Wealth when given away is depleted by the giving.  But wisdom when given away becomes even more our possession.  Wealth is fleeting and evasive --who is ever satisfied with enough of it?  But wisdom flows freely from You to those who ask you for it, and there is always more than enough.  Oh Lord, let me seek wisdom.  Amen.

The Return?

Therefore, He said: “‘Engage in business until I come back.’
Luke 19:12-13 (HCSB)

Lord Jesus I do not know when you will return, but I do know you will. And I want to be doing those things You expect me to be doing when You return. The business I believe You expect me to be engaged in first is: nourishing my relationship with You, my wife, my children, Church and friends.

The second, I believe you expect me to be doing is taking care of my body as limited for me as that may be. Lord you graciously remind me: "19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body." 1 Cor. 6:19-20 (NLT)

The third thing I believe You expect me to be doing when You return is being a faithful witness to the truth and power of the Gospel. As salt: "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Col. 4:6 (ESV) As light "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Father, today may or may not be the day when Jesus returns but, help all of us believers to be joyously engaged in Kingdom business until that day does come. Amen.

as we look forward

As we look forward Lord,

We proclaim your faithfulness in hope.

We forgive as we have been forgiven.

We persevere knowing that you are with us.

We love knowing that we are loved.

We are patient and understanding of others.

We look to your example of abundant life.

Walk by FAITH

May we walk with our GOD by faith.

May we keep our focus on Him each step of our journey.

If we desire to be victorious Christians, we must develop powerful PRAYER lives!

Our spiritual growth is directly related to the time we spend in prayer.

Don’t neglect it. Cultivate it. And then watch the power of God begin to move mightily!

new wine

Father,

You are pressing us. We can feel it. Either a lot of pressing or maybe just a little, we feel it. You press because you are making something new.

Bring us to the place of being ready to be new. Being ready for what is coming, what you are preparing us for. Prepare us for the journey and give us the provisions you have promised in the journey. We humbly submit to your will, ready to be your vessel. But we know it will be hard.

So prepare our hearts, minds, and bodies for the new things you are doing and for the new power that will come. Prepare us in our weakness, and restore what sin has broken and make us new wine.

Amen

CHANGE MY HEART

Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart,
which no unworthy affection may drag downwards;
Give me an unconquered heart ,
which no tribulation can wear out;
Give me an upright heart,
which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside.
~Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274)

Change my heart, Oh God,
Make it ever true,
Change my heart, Oh God,
May I be like You.

You are the Potter,
I am the clay,
Mold me and make me;
This is what I pray.

Foundation

Father we are often in a quandtay as to how to restore what has been destroyed. Especially when it is the very foundation on which human society is founded, designed and determined by You.

Father, the family structure and foundation, which is in accordance with Your Word, is clearly recorded throughout the Bible. Therefore, to renew what has been destroyed means we must return to the first principles and the divine origin of human relationships. These are clearly spoken of in Genesis and Ephesians.

Genesis 2:18 & 22-24 (NLT)
18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man. 23 “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” 24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

Father the New Testament reaffirm this foundational relationship: ",..... each man must love his wife .......and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:33 (NLT)  1 Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. 2 “Honor your father and mother.” Ephesians 6:1-2 (NLT

Father you have shown that the nobility of a husband is established by his love for his wife. The dignity of his wife is seen in the respect for her husband as his suitable helper created for this extraordinary purpose.  And the value their children is vindicated by their obedience to their parents in honoring them and passing on Biblical faith to coming generations.

Triune God you are the center of these relationships giving humanity and the family balance and significance. This is the foundation upon which human and divine relationships can be renewed and restored. This is made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins who alone will reconcile God and man through faith in Him.

Thank you, Father for Your marvelous love, matchless grace, and glorious plan. In Jesus name. Amen.

to release our past to heaven

Help us Dear Lord,

To leave past pain and hurts behind us.
To release difficult memories into your hands.
And to commit these things into your hands.

Teach us Father of light,

To forgive and find joy in our present days.
To see our lives through your eyes.
And be content in every moment.

Holy Spirit, give us hope for the future.

In the name of Jesus we say amen.

for our friends

Lord we pray for our friends,

That they may be filled with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that they may walk worthily of you, please you in all respects, bear fruit in every good work, and increase in divine knowledge.

We ask that they be strengthened with all power, according to the might of your glory. And that they will endure and persevere with joy. Amen

because of Jesus

I invite you to put yourself in the posture of listener rather than intercessor for the following prayer. Spend your time in prayer in silence, listening to the voice of God.

The Lord your God is with you,
    the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing. (Zeph. 3:17)

Of course you find it hard to believe that I could possibly love you like this. it's easy to feel unworthy and undeserving. But I don't want you to look others and compare, but intend look to my Son in adoration. Jesus is the Author and Perfector of your faith. He is your righteousness, holiness, and redemption. I am mighty to save you, because he was fully obedient for you.

Right now, in this very moment, I am rejoicing over you with gladness - great gladness and delight - for you not as you should be, not as you will be, but as you actually are.  I will quiet all the restless places in your life with my love - your wounds and fears, your worries and tears. I am singing over you loudly and joyfully in the gospel. Listen carefully, and may the sound of my voice mute the noise of your doubt, the roars of the dark lion, and the clamor of the world.

I KNOW YOUR NAME

Psalm 9:10 "Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You."

Heavenly Father, how wonderful to know Your name, to have put my trust in you by faith and been adopted into your family!  What is amazing is You know MY name.  You knew me before I was formed in my mothers womb and you wrote name in Your book and numbered my days.  This is to marvelous to understand, so I just love and accept it becausse Your Word is always true.  We can trust from this verse that if we seek You, You will never forsake us!  I love You.  Amen

The Divine Invitation

The Divine Invitation

Father, the divine Invitation delivered by Your Son and sealed by the Holy Spirit is the most gracious and kind opportunity ever given to the human race.   "The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price."  Revelation 22:17 (ESV)

Father this is such a generous and priceless gift given to all who believe in Jesus. It is so personally and powerfully given by Jesus: " On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."  John 7:37-38 (ESV)

Thank You Father that our thirst for a meaningful and eternal life is forever satisfied as we freely partake of the Water of Life offered to us through Him who is the Living Water. Amen.

dealing with anxiety

These words from a Godspell chorus seems especially appropriate for me today ...

    Day by day
    Oh Dear Lord
    Three things I pray
    To see thee more clearly
    Love thee more dearly
    Follow thee more nearly
    Day by day

Help me Lord to take things day by day. Teach me how to deal with the anxiety that fills my body. Cause me to remember to breathe and to trust in you rather than myself. Amen.

accepting each other

Dear Lord, We confess that we judge each other rather than accept and love our neighbors. We often reject our brothers and sisters because they think differently than we do. We are deeply saddened when we see friends rejected because of their skin color.

Come Lord Jesus. Change our hearts and minds. Help us to have inner vision and singularity of heart. Encourage us to have open arms that we might embrace the unlovely and those rejected by society. And cause compassion to grab hold of every part of us. In the lovely name of Jesus we say amen.

new heart, new spirit

Lord,

We praise you as the Savior of the world. You new covenant promise forgiveness of sin, God's law written on our hearts, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. You have given us. new heart and put a new spirit in us. (Ez. 36:26).

Forgive us, Father, when we don't embrace repentance; when through our own determination we try harder to do better - instead of forsaking sin and relying on Your power.  Thank you for Your grace, kindness and for the joy of repentance. We praise you for taking away the heavy burden of sin. Prepare our hearts to fly surrender to Your plans for us. Lead us to say as Jesus did; "Let it be so."

Teach us to live in the heart and the spirit You have given us!

Amen

One Thing

My only goal in life is "One Thing," above and beyond all else, to please God! I know this may sound arrogant, for a sinful man to be able to approach God, who is holy, infinite, and out of human reach.

Isaiah is so helpful to see the grace and mercy of God, who makes access possible and personal with Him. "2 mighty seraphim, ...were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!” 5 Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.” 7 He (one of the seraphim) touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Isaiah 6:2,3, 5, and 7

Father, my goal, pursuit and purpose is to please You just as Your Word tells us. "....find out what pleases the Lord." Ephesians 5:10 (NIV)

Thank you for making our relationship possible through faith in Your beloved Son, our Savior. Amen!

trusting him to lead

Dear Father,

It is sometimes hard to trust your leadership because it mean releasing control. Help us Lord to let go of control and follow your leading. Teach us to find you in our pain but not allow our pain to control us. Open our inner eyes that we might follow you when everything seems dark. In all of ours ways give us hearts that trust you more than we trust our heads. In each situation cause us to pray and commit our lives to you.

Amen

making all things new

Father,

We praise you that in an ever changing world, you show us a love that never changes. You have chosen us, made us alive in you  by your gracious and loving hand. Lord, you have been good and kind to us, in the hard things, in the joyous things, in the obstacles and the victories, the heights and the depts. You have been there with us through is all this past year.

Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you for all that you've allowed into our lives this past year, the good and the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence filling us every single day.

We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. Guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. Make us hunger and thirst for you alone! Help us release our tightly held grips on the things to which you’ve said “no,” “not yet,” or “wait.”

We ask for help to pursue you first, above every dream and desire you’ve put within our hearts. Give us courage and wisdom to pursue your dreams for us and not our own. Empower us as we step out in faith, sustain us as we seek to put your first.

Amen

THE GLORIES OF 2022

Thus says the Lord:
Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom
Let not the mighty man glory in his might
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches.

But let him who glories glory in this:
That he understands Me and knows Me.
That I am the Lord, exercising
lovingkindness, judgment and
righteousness in the earth.

For in these I delight,
Says the Lord.

~Jeremiah 9:23,24

Dear Healvenly Father, Lord and Savior, may Your words from Jeremiah be my solitary goal for this new year of 2022.  That I would only glory in understanding and knowing you better this year than any in past.  Give me a hungery and thirst and a relently passion to KNOW YOU!  Thank you for showing the world your lovingkindness, your judgment and your righteousness.  I love You.  Amen

Grit and Grace

For from His fullness, we have all received, grace upon grace.  John 1:16 (ESV)

Father, though 2021 was a difficult year for many people, yet the abundance of your grace has been sustaining with hope and strength. How true the Scriptures are that it has been grace upon grace. As the mighty waters of the waterfall flow with abundance so your wonderful grace has flowed into and through our lives. I guess we could call it a year of grit and grace.

Thank you, Father, that each day your presence is made real to us through your grace. So, we can look forward to the new year knowing that you will never leave us or forsake us, but you will sustain us in your faithfulness and love. Such is the evidence of grace upon grace.

In the name io Jesus who is grace and truth. Amen.
