Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

For This Country

Father,

I pray for this country. It seems we are going more and more down the wrong path. I pray for wisdom for our leaders to do what is right and not just what is convenient. I pray that we as a nation may put aside living by pragmatism and the pursuit  of personal pleasure and become a people of principle.

I pray for the people who have fought to protect our country or who are presently fighting to do so. I pray that You would put a hedge of protection around them. I pray they may get the respect they deserve. I pray for those who have been injured physically or mentally due to their service, that You would work a work of healing in their lives. And I would ask for peace, for them and their families, as well as for peace for those who may be mourning the loss of loved ones due to their service.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

Memorial Day

Father, we thank you for the freedom you have given us and for those who have given their lives in defense of that freedom. Help us to not take that freedom or that sacrifice for granted, but to always be grateful for our blessings. Amen

MEMORIAL DAY PRAYER

A special prayer on Memorial Day -- As we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we think of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection.  We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, provision, and strength will fill their lives.  May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.  In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Remember

Exodus 12:14 (NLT)
“This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation…..”

Father this week end we will once again remember those who throughout our history have made the ultimate sacrifice to secure and sustain the freedom that is so precious and priceless to us. Thank you for the men and women from all walks of life that answered to the call to serve and for so many who sacrificed their life for the ideal of freedom that is our daily reality. Sweet freedom: the air of heaven, the hope of earth, and the right of every human being. Father help us to never fail to remember our history, our heritage and our responsibility to be guardians of this treasure we call freedom.

And Father you remind us in John 8:36 (NLT) “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”  Thank you that in Christ Jesus we are free from the penalty of sin, free from the power of sin and someday we will be free from the very presence of sin.

We will remember this weekend the freedoms we enjoy and all those who made it possible. In the Name of “….him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood Revelation 1:5 (ESV)

Depend on the strength of the Lord

O Abba Father, it is not in trying but in trusting you, it's not in running but resting in you and it's not in wondering but praying to you. I pray O God that we will find the strength that is only found in you.

A Daily Prayer of Submission

Dear Heavenly Father,

I bring to you my petitions. My needs. My pain.

I give to you my mind. My strength. My heart. My love.

I pray for answers to my prayers and courage to walk with you today.

As I do, I submit to your will and ask for your heavenly will to be done in my life.

May you be glorified in me and through me today.

The Little Things

Sometimes it seems like it is the little things that  get to me. You would think that having pancreatic cancer would put other things in perspective. I am pleased to say that sometimes it does. But at other times (depending no doubt on my attitude), it can seem like one more thing on an already overloaded cart. I fell and slightly bruised my back yesterday. And I find this harder to trust God for than the fact I am facing life and death and the doctors still do not know which way I am leaning toward.

Father,

Help us to trust You for the little things. Help us to remember that You are involved in all our lives. Help us not to have the attitude that we can handle these without You (we cannot). Help us to turn to You early and not after all else fails. Help to see everything in the perspective of Your love and power.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

Prayer for Peace

Father, we pray for those who have lost loved ones, for those who have had their world torn apart, for those who face an uncertain future. Grant peace and comfort, reminding them of your perfect love. Let them know that your heart is good to them, even when they can't trace your hand. Amen

ONCE AGAIN

Dear Lord, I think upon Your sacrifice
You became nothing poured out to death
Many times I've wondered at Your gift of life
And I'm in that place once again.

Once again I look upon the cross where You died
I'm humbled by Your mercy and I'm broken inside
Once again I thank You
Once again I pour out my life.

Now You are exalted tot he highest place
King of the heavens, where one day I'll bow
But for now, I marvel at Your saving grace
I'm full of praise once again.

Once again I look upon the cross where You died
I'm humbled by Your mercy and I'm broken inside
Once again I thank You
Once again I pour out my life.

Thank You for the Cross.  I love You.  Amen.

Peace Like A River

Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Thank you Father that in times of turmoil our peace of heart, mind, and soul is the result of our trust which is firmly fixed in you. Thank you that through faith in Jesus, your beloved Son, we have both peace with God and the peace of God.

Therefore Father we take to heart the Scripture which says: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Thank you Father that by our trust in you we have: “…..peace flowing like a gentle river…... Isaiah 48:18 (NLT)

And the motto spoken of above takes on sovereign meaning “When we put our problems in God’s hands He puts his peace in our hearts.”

In Him who is our peace,

Hear me, Lord

Hear me, Lord, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;
save your servant who trusts in you.
You are my God; have mercy on me,
Lord, for I call to you all day long.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord,
for I put my trust in you.

You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you.
Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy.
When I am in distress, I call to you,
because you answer me.

Amen

Outside Our Comfort Zone

Father,

I prayer for Your people, and especially me, that we may not try to be comfortable in this world. I pray that we may not push You away in some corner of our lives, only to bring You out when we are in trouble. Break down our comfort zones, that we may live for You in all our life and with all our strength. May You not be a part of our life, but be our life.

PRAYER FOR REVIVAL IN OUR LAND

Prayer For Revival In Our Land

Loving Lord Jesus, it saddens me to see the way that the gospel of Jesus Christ – is being so compromised in our land. As a nation we seem to have moved so far from the true gospel of grace and our churches and fellowships seem to be embracing many alternative and compromised teachings that are not true to Your word.

Revive this land I pray. Stir up the hearts of those that have come to trust in Jesus Christ but who have been enticed to follow a different gospel or who have chosen to walk the way of compromised or embrace a different type of teaching. Let those that are Your blood-bought children be stirred in their hearts to seek the truth and to draw ever closer to the Lord Jesus – and Lord for those who once trusted You but have now wandered far away -I pray that You will speak to their hearts, revive their spirit and draw them back into close fellowship with Yourself – revive this land, I pray - in Jesus name,

Amen

World Day of Prayer

Isaiah 58:1 (ESV)
“Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins.

Acts 4:23-31 (NLT)
23 As soon as they were freed, Peter and John returned to the other believers and told them what the leading priests and elders had said. 24 When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God:

“O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—  25 you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant, saying, ‘Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans? 26 The kings of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the LORD and against his Messiah.’   2 7“In fact, this has happened here in this very city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, your holy servant, whom you anointed. 28 But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will. 29  And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.   30 Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31 After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.

Yes Father may your people, around the world, be filled with the Holy Spirit and with courage, compassion and clarity bear witness to the glorious and transforming truth of the Word. In Jesus holy Name.

Prayer of surrender

The clock strikes twelve
The day is over
The week was long
The need to retire
I seek you Lord
I need you
I have you Lord
I take refuge
Many were my troubles
Many days in fear
Many times I fell through
Many though you were here
Here I am defeated
Here I am I submit
Here I am as nothing
Here only to you I commit
So to you I come
So to you I render
So the days are long
So to you I surrender

Amen

Today...

Heavenly  Father,

Grant us strength to make it through today. Help us to keep our eyes focused on You and Your power and Your abilities as we navigate through the uncertainty of life and the turmoil that often surrounds us. Help us to draw strength from You for this day only and to not worry about tomorrow. Help us to concentrate on simply making it through today. Give us unction from the Holy Spirit to take our lives one day at a time. Step by step. Moment but moment. May we remain close to Your side and may we continue to look to You for our guidance and direction. Thank you,  Lord, for your tender love and care for us always.

maker of heaven and earth."

Being Christ's Body

Father,

Help Your people to remember that we are Christ's body. Help us to be that body to those around us. Help us to know that we each have a place and a part to play in that body, and, whatever it is, that it is important. Empower us to fulfill that function, whatever it might be.

MOTHER'S DAY PRAYER

 Loving God,
as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children,
so you watch over your Church.
Bless these women,
that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honor them always
with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Appreciating our Wives and Mothers

Wanda, the only thing better than having you as my wife is our children having you as their mother. Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you Father for our Mothers that we celebrate on their special day with acknowledgements and remembrances. They are wonderfully created, unique in their nature, and gifted in their ability to influence our lives. The wise man in Proverbs accurately and affectionately states of a mother:

“She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” 30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman (Mother) who fears the LORD is to be praised.”  Proverbs 31:27-30 (ESV)
Thank you Father for the Mothers we love, admire and celebrate this week end.

Prayer for our suffering and comfort

Blessed be to You O God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. You are the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. You comfort us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by You.

We share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. When we are afflicted, it is for the comfort of others; and when we are comforted, it is for the comfort of others, of those who experience pain and who patiently endure the same sufferings we suffer. Our hope for them to be unshaken, for we know that as we share in sufferings, we also share in our comfort. (adapted from 2 Corinthians 1:3-7)

Breaking Down Walls

Father,

Help us break down the walls we have built to divide us from others. Help us reach out to other people and meet them where they are at. Help us  show the love of God to those who are in need. Help us extend the grace of God to those who have gone astray. Help us not to hide our light under a bushel, but to light the path of the way to God.

THE FRAGRANCE OF CHRIST

This morning I was reading the Daily Bread devotion the title was
"The Fragrance of Christ"
How appropriate and how timely ~ In II Corinthians 2:14-17 Paul reminded the Christians there that they were the aroma of Christ.  "For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ."
When we walk into a room, do people smell the fragrance of Christ in our lives, our smile, our compassion, our availability.  I hope that's true of me.  That's what I long for ~ to represent my Lord with the sweetest fragrance.  Sometimes that all that's needed and more powerful than any words.

Dear Lord ~ I long to be the fragrance of Christ that will sweeten the place you have place me to live out my earthly life.  A sweet fragrance that will lift up others, encourage their hearts, spur them on to many good works in your name.  Lord you have sweetened my life with your gift of Salvation and the forgiveness of all my sins, past ~present~ and future.  May my life give back to You the sweetness you have given me.  I love You.  Amen.

Amen
