As the war in Ukraine rages, we pray for your intervention.

We ask that unity will triumph over division and lover over hate.

On a personal level, we pray for your grace in our dealings with others.

Help us to be sensitive, empathetic and loving towards all of our neighbors.

In all things cause our words to be seasoned with grace and our actions with mercy.

Our responsibility

We can’t change situations and circumstances.

But we can PRAY.

We can cry out in the behalf of others.

We can believe and trust in the will of God.

We can’t lift each other up to God.

And we can know that He hears.

Amen

a blessing prayer for freedom

As the bird soars high
In the free holding of the wind,
Clear of the certainty of ground,,
Opening the imagination of wings
Into the grace of emptiness
To fulfill new voyagings,
May your life awaken
To the call of its freedom

As the ocean absolves itself
Of the expectation of land,
Approaching only
In the form of waves
to make limit of the threshold
where water meets sand
May your heart know the patience
and the joy of seeing infinity from limitation.

May we see all endings as another beginning
May we lean into who we were created to be
and not who we default to be

May we see all limitations as freedom.

Amen

prayer for inner calm

Dear Lord and Father of humankind,

Forgive our foolish ways;
Reclothe us in our rightful mind,
In purer lives Thy service find,
In deeper reverence, praise.

Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.

Breathe through the heats of our desire
Thy coolness and Thy balm;
Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
O still, small voice of calm.

Amen.

for healing a sick soul

Oh, Lord, my soul is sick with hurt and anger. Holding on, like I am, to the memory of the pain inflicted on me is keeping me trapped in a dark place. I can almost see the heavy chains around my hands and feet, bolting me in the very situation that caused my shame.

Help me to stop reliving the moments of hurt. Cover me with your healing. Give me your strength to forgive. Give me your eyes to see those who hurt me the way you do. Heal me of my unforgiveness and free my spirit to trust and love again.

In your mighty name, amen.

a prayer for. being shaped

Father,

Teach us grace and wisdom to act kindly, learning what is personal and what is not when we feel attacked.

Teach us to be hospitable to criticism.

Show how to put others at the center of things, and to act not from arrogance but out of service.

Show us what is looks like to build and refine our hearts and minds so that we may have the heart and mind of Christ.

Reveal to us grace where we failed to give it, and grace where we have received it, so that we may celebrate with joy in either our conviction or in our blessing

Grace, What a Word

Romans 5:20 (NLT)
"God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant."

Heavenly Father, this wonderful song expresses so deeply the gratitude for the grace that can be written over all of my sin.

"I Am Not Worthy the Least of His Favors" By Beatrice Bush Bixler.

First Stanza

I am not worthy the least of His favor,
But Jesus left heaven for me;
The Word became flesh and He died as my Savior,
Forsaken on dark Calvary.

Chorus:

I am not worthy this dull tongue repeats it!
I am not worthy this heart gladly beats it?
Jesus left heaven to die in my place
What mercy, what love and what grace!

Thank you Lord Jesus for dying in my place, suffering and paying the debt for my sin and for the abundant grace that covers them all. As the Scriptures remind me: "But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone."  Hebrews 2:9 (ESV)

Amen.

help us to listen

Dear Lord,

The world is a noisy place.
People and things are shouting at us.
Help us to be quiet listeners.

Each day we are distracted by loudness.
Events of our days demand our attention.
Teach us the wisdom of inner hearing.

We commit ourselves afresh Lord.
Open our hearts to the voice of your Spirit.
Transform us into the image of your Son.

A St Patrick's Day Prayer

Dear Lord,

May your strength pilot us,
May your wisdom instruct us,
May your hand protect us,
May your word direct us.

Be always ours this day and for evermore.

Just pray

Do you desire to be more like Christ?

You need to spend more time in PRAYER.

Are you really hungry for what God has for your life?

You need to spend more time in PRAYER.

Are you unsatisfied with your current level of intimacy with Jesus?

You need to spend more time in PRAYER…

Truly, a DEEPER, more fervent and committed PRAYER life is the answer to all these questions.

It is the answer to any situation. Any problem. Any circumstance. Any hurt. Any desperate moment we have….

All it takes is a little humility and a lot of crying out to the LORD…

Just PRAY.

And then TRUST. BELIEVE. And EXPECT.

“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

a prayer to see

Jesus,

Strangers came to you,
because with you,
they hoped they would be seen
for who they were

not for who the seers saw.

May we who are strangers
see each other.

May we find our foundation
in the work of love;
demanding, tiring,
true and human and holy.
Because Your love is the one foundation
worth building on.

Amen

Never Give Up

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show
that they should always pray and never give up. Luke 18:1 (NLT)

Oh Father, how prone we are to loose our focus on faith in You and to yield to the frailty of our human nature and simply give up.  With the world so divided, driven by selfishness, pride, unjust power to dominate culture and the unmerciful abuse to fellow human beings and in rebellion against You. It is a true dilemma that this sinful world has no answer for.

So we turn our eyes, minds and hearts to You the Sovereign God.  As the Holy Scriptures reminds us in Jude 1:25.  "To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen."

Father in your wisdom, grace and power You have providentially provided a plan for the salvation of all who will trust in You.  So we look to You alone and the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit. As the Scriptures admonish us: "looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (ESV)

Father in the wonderful words of this song we turn our eyes to you.

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

  Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!

3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Amen,

Touched

Lord Jesus it is comforting, beyond measure, to know that what touches our lives touches your heart.  That there is not a trial, test or temptation we encounter that you are not aware of enter into with us.  You understand our struggles, feel our weaknesses and sense our weariness. How grateful I am for such a sympathetic Savior who so intimately and personally is involved in our live and knows, loves and cares for us. Thank you for your faithful promise: "I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)

Thank you, Lord, that by your grace and mercy we have all help we will ever need. "15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:15-16  (KJV)  Amen.

a prayer of advocation

Dear Lord,

As we survey the state of the world, we see many who do not have a voice and seem powerless to make their lives better.

We cry out for all who are oppressed.

Each day we awake to news of heartbreak and sorrow. Evil seems to have a strong enduring grip on planet earth.

We intercede for all who struggle.

Lead us Spirit. As we speak, help us to be voices for those who have no voice. In our daily activities, cause us to be advocates for justice and civil rights.

In all that we do and say, we pray that our actions might advocate for those who are hurting, lost, sad, lonely, poor, forgotten and helpless.

In the name of our divine Advocate, we say Amen.

Prayer is LIFE

We will never tap into the full power of GOD when our PRAYER lives are lacking. Or non-existent.

God has so much to show us. So much to give us. So much to do through us.

But we are weak in our prayer lives. We are stagnant in our efforts to effectively cry out to God. We are not spending the necessary time on our knees or better yet on our faces before Him!

Here in Nicaragua the necessity of PRAYER is played out to us day after day.

When they have no other recourse. No other path to take. No where else to turn..

They turn to God. He is their FIRST CHOICE!

Why don’t we turn to God first?? Why don’t we fall down on our knees at the first sign of trouble. Illness. Problem….

Let’s tap into the power that God has for us and PRAY!!!

Amen

a prayer for mercy

Sovereign Lord,

You see all us who dwell on earth.. each moment they live and breathe, you see us and are with us. You are not far off, but are instead close and present, with your Spirit indwelling in each if us.

Have mercy on those who now suffer the miseries of a war not of their own making.

Have compassion on the wounded and dying;  and comfort the broken-hearted.

Confound the hatred and madness of those who make war.

Guide our rulers and bring strength to those who must fight for what is right.

Father - bring war to an end, bring peace across the world. Unite us all under the reign of your Son, the Prince of Peace, before whose judgement seat the rulers of the world will give account, and in whose name we pray. Amen.
