Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Wisdom

Lord, please forgive me for the days I take Your Word for granted. What an incredible gift it is to receive wisdom from You — the One who made all things and holds all things together. Guide me as I open up Your Word each day. Teach me and train me. I want to live a life that honors You. In Jesus' name, amen.

No matter what our past has held, no matter how many times we've fallen down and messed up, with the wisdom we find in God's Word, we can start living differently today.

“Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.” Proverbs‬ ‭2:2-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

For the Homeless and those who Care for them

God of compassion,

your love for humanity was revealed in Jesus,
whose earthly life began in the poverty of a stable
and ended in the pain and isolation of the cross:

we hold before you those who are homeless and
cold especially in this bitter weather.

Draw near and comfort them in spirit
and bless those who work to provide them with shelter,
food and friendship.

We ask this in Jesus' name.

Amen.

Marvelous and Wonderful

1 John 4:10 (NLT)
This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

I Stand Amazed (How Marvelous)

I stand amazed in the presence
of Jesus the Nazarene.
And wonder how He could love me,
a sinner condemned, unclean.

How marvelous, How wonderful
and my song will ever be
How marvelous, How wonderful
is my Saviour's love for me.

Father, thank you for your love that sent your Son to be our Savior. Jesus, thank you for your love through which you willing sacrificed yourself to redeem us from our sin. Holy Spirit, thank you for confirming the wonder and majesty of God’s love in our hearts As the Scripture says: “…..For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:5 (NLT)

With eternal gratitude for such infinite love and forgiving grace. Amen.

Wisdom and mercy

Our Righteous Lord, there are many who rule with injustice. They justify themselves and insist on their own way. They use the power they have been given for immoral purposes. Our trust and our hope is in You. The wicked will not win forever, for You are God and You will judge.

Grant us wisdom. We pray that we, Your people, all over this land are opening eyes to truth and ask for Your mercy and forgiveness for the sins of our nation. Help us to walk in love and to be light in a dark world that desperately needs You. Amen

Grace to Follow

Lord, give me the grace to follow you with fidelity and generosity.
Lead me into the wine cellar of your love, where, refreshed by your Spirit,
I may sing of your mercies and be set aflame with the fire of your love.
Amen

Dont give up

Have you ever prayed and felt like there was no one listening?

Have you ever poured out your heart to God and felt like it made no difference at all in your situation?
“Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief.” (Psalm 22:2)
How many of us have found ourselves in this very place. Just as David did, we can feel abandoned. Helpless. Hopeless. Alone.

But....

DON’T GIVE UP!!

Our personal cries for help never go unheard. Our desperate pleas to our LORD never go unanswered. He cares and He hears and He responds....

Keep pressing in to Him. Draw close. Pour out your soul. Cling to the One who can bring healing, restoration, peace, comfort, mercy and grace.

I prayed to the LORD, and He answered me... In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened: He saved me from all my troubles.” (Psalm 34:4,6)

We can know that when we lift our voices up to God, He is listening and He is extending His Hand of  mercy to us, dispensing sweet grace, and holding us steady in our times of trouble.

He is faithful. He is good. He is God.

Amen

Love for God's Word

Romans 7:22 (NLT)
I love God’s law with all my heart.

Father, how I love your Law: the principles, the promises and the practical truths that are so effective for daily living. They nourish my soul, enlighten my mind and stimulate my spirit to embrace and practice the values that make life both meaningful and fulfilling.

Thank you that each day I have the privilege of pursuing the treasures of wisdom and grace in Your Word. Thank You for the joy, peace, conviction and counsel that come from such search and discovery.

Father, I so agree with the observation of the Psalmist who wrote:
Psalm 19:7-8 (NLT)
7 The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living.

Thank you Father for your Law, the very words of life. Amen.

My Strength

Father, I thank You that I belong to you; You hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.” Amen

Speaking to God

I love the sentiments in this image. So often formality and sanctimony gets in our way when we pray. With that in mind I offer these few words of prayer and reflection.

In need you in my life dear Heavenly Father. Forgive me for forgetting to include you in it. Help me Dad to remember that you are always with me and care deeply about me.

I offer my friendship to you today knowing that you want me in your life. I invite you to live through me. Teach me to love those who are in my life just the way that you would.

Amen

help me to live this day

Lord, help me to live this day
quietly, peacefully.

To lean upon Thy great strength
trustfully, restfully.

To wait for the unfolding of Thy will
patiently, serenely.

To meet others
peacefully, joyously.

To face tomorrow
confidently, courageously.

Amen

What I Need Most

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
Father when I think about your grace so many things come to mind. It is amazing grace, it is saving grace, it is sustaining grace, it is comforting grace, it is sufficient grace and the list could go on and on. But one of the things that make it all of these and more is that it personal grace. The intimacy of your grace is personal because it is from your heart to ours. The following song expresses so well:
Amazing grace shall always be my song of praise, for it was grace that brought my liberty. I do not know why Christ came to love me so, he looked beyond my fault and saw my need. I shall forever lift my eyes to Calvary, to view the cross where Jesus died for me, how marvelous the grace that saved my falling soul. He looked beyond my fault and saw my need
Thank you Father that your grace encompasses all of my need and demonstrates your glorious love for a needy world.
In Jesus compassionate name. Amen.

To Do Good

Our Father God,
Bless us with a deep desire for opportunities to do good to others in humility and without desiring reward. We want to seek your glory and the progress of your kingdom and to do your will. We humbly ask that with each new day, you will supply our needs, forgive our sins and keep us from all evil. We will forgive those who trespass against us as you have taught us by example. Amen

The Snoopy Prayer

I love the down-to-earth feel of this prayer.

I am not sure that coffee brings serenity but coffee and prayer often go together for some as they read the scriptures and meditate in the morning.

I think that music can do in us what other things cannot. Many times I have sensed God's presence through singing along with worship music.

So we invite you Lord into our times of solitude. We ask you to reveal yourself to us in our quiet times. Help us to experience your peace and presence in these times.

Amen

a prayer for freedom in Christ

Father,

From the time we first rebelled, we've been a people in chains. Oppressed by our own sin and from the sins of others. Throughout history, we have seen the effects of sin on your people, and the powerful ways in which you have rescued them. From the moment you parted the Red Sea to the moment the veil in the temple tore, you have been a God desperate to rescue and redeem us, calling us back to you. And you still continue to redeem to this day.

We stand in the power and freedom of your rescue, O God. Knowing you continue to pursue us and deliver us from the chains that bind. We are given new freedom, new life, in Christ Jesus. Help us to have eyes that see our own bondage. Help us see those who are oppressed by sin, and use us as instruments of your peace, your freedom.

Guide us to continually walk away from these chains and find freedom in you.

Amen

Prayer for Strength

Lord God, you are my strength.
Hold my hand in my weakness and
teach my heart to fly. With you,
there's nothing to fear, nothing
to worry about. Hold me tight
in your embrace, so that I can
be stronger than the challenges
in my life. Amen.

The Glories of Calvary

The Glories of Calvary

I’m taking the opportunity to share a prayer for my husband this week.  I love the music in our church and this song always touches my heart.

Sometimes a song just says what I want to pray to the Father.  The Glories of Calvary is one such song.  I will share those words as my prayer today.

Lord You are calling me to come
And behold the wondrous cross,
To explore the depths of grace
That came to me at such a cost;
Where Your boundless love
Conquered my boundless sin
And mercy’s arms were opened wide.

My heart is filled with a thousand songs
Proclaiming the glories of Calvary
With every breath, Lord how I long
To sing of Jesus Who died for me.
Lord take me deeper
Into the glories of Calvary

fervent prayer

Help our prayers today dear Lord reflect the reality that we are loved and forgiven.
Cause the hope of eternal healing to arise in our hearts as we pray for each other.
Embolden us with the confidence of righteousness when we approach your throne.
Let the power of the Holy Spirit fall on us teaching how and what to pray today.

In the name of Jesus. Amen

Look like Him

My prayer today is that we will always have hearts of compassion. Hearts of mercy. Hearts that look like Jesus. As I minister to the people of Nicaragua, I am constantly reminded of the need for these things. May we look like Christ in all we do. All we say. Everywhere we go.

Amen

guide our steps

Lord,

Praise you Father for all that you have done for us! For  you are a strong and mighty God who watches over us with loving kindness. May your name be praised! May we learn to proclaim your goodness to this world, as a testimony to who you are.

While we know the turning over of another year doesn't mean much in the big picture, we are grateful for how it causes us to reflect on the year before and look forward to the year ahead.

Guide and direct our steps as we consider what you will call us to in 2019. Help us remain faithful to your Word and your truth. Help us keep in step with the Spirit as we walk into this new year.

Amen
