Compassionate Lord,

I lift up my friend who is going through a hard time.

Please grant them strength and courage to overcome their struggles.

Give them patience and resolve to hang in there with a good attitude.

Wrap them in Your peace, and help them feel your presence and comfort.

Calm any fear or anxiety they may be feeling.

Help them to know that they are not alone.

Guide them with Your wisdom and let them find hope in You.

Help me pray for those in authority in my nation.

Help me to honour You by praying for them whether I like them or not, wherther I agree or disagree with them, whether I voted or did not vote for them.

Help me to pray for my nation's president, or prime minister.

Help me to pray for my state or province's governer.

Help me to pray for my city's mayor and councillors.

Help me to pray that they make wise and godly decisions that honour You, and that we may be free to love a peacefuland quiet life, dignified in every way.

Help me to pray for their health and protection.

Help me to pray that they may come to have a personal relationship with You, Lord Jesus.

Help me to pray for those in authority in my nation.

Help me to pray for the whole church

Lord, help me to pray for the church, and not just for myself, for the church is Your Church.

Help me to pray for more my local church that the community I belong to will be the light of the world, and salt of the earth in my neighbourhood.

Help me to pray the other churches in my neighbourhood, that together our light will shine brighter, and our saltiness will be more effective.

Help me to pray the churches in the nation I live in, that together we will impact the nation for You, Lord Jesus Christ.

Help me to pray for the churches in other nations, that they too may be lights and salt in the nations that dwell in.

Help me to pray for the persecuted church in the many nations that being a Christian means to suffer hostile discrimination, suffering, imprisonment and even death. Help me pray for the suffering church that they may have the courage to continue to praech the gospel in a difficult environment

Help me to pray for the whole church that whatever we face we will honour You in our attitudes, words, and deeds.

Help me to pray for the whole church because it is Your church and Your heritage!

a prayer for our world

All powerful God,

You are present in the universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with your peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle, for justice, love and peace.

Dear Lord,

I feel so alone. So desperate. And so sad.

I feel like there is no one who really cares.

Embrace me with your loving spirit.

The Best Prayers Often Have More Groans than Words

Psalm 5:1–2 (ESV)

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. 2 Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.

Romans 8:26 (ESV)

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Heavenly Father

There are times when I am so troubled and burdened that I don't know how to pray. I don't know what to pray. Help me realize that You understand what I am going through. Help me know and believe that in times like these my groans and sighs to You are accepted as prayers.

Help me to know that my groans are not only accepted, they are precious to You because they are acts of dependence and trust in Your love and grace. When I am weak You are always strong and are willing and able to help.

Help me to realize that the Holy Spirit who lives in me intercedes in prayer for me.

Lord,

Dear God,

There is so much pain and suffering in the world.

Bless us, that we might be a people who alleviate such things.

We often feel overwhelmed when we think about hurting people.

Help us to be those who advocate for justice and fairness.

Poverty, homelessness and crime seem to be at all time highs.

Grace us, that we might be among those who advocate for such.

In all our lives, create in us a desire to bear the burdens of others.

for people that have rare diseases

Rare Disease Day is February 28th. I am particularly interested in this day because my wife Ann has a rare disease called Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO). I invite you to pray with me for Ann and anyone who has a rare disease.

Our trust is in you Lord. Our confession is that nothing is too difficult for you.

We ask for those who suffer from a rare disease. We pray for their healing and for their comfort. We pray that others will bring encouragement and support.

We also ask that wisdom be given to those who research rare diseases and seek medical solutions. And we pray that understanding be given to doctors and nurses who diagnose rare diseases.

We praise you and lift up your name. You teach us to praise you in all things. So until these rare diseases are cured we will continue to lift up your name.

Lord, please be with the rescue workers and keep them safe as they make heroic efforts in dangerous situations to rescue those in trouble.

Lord, please be with everyone waiting to be rescued, keep them safe, and bring help to them soon.

God, bless each and every person affected by this storm and surround them with Your love, protection, and angels.

Let them know there are millions of us out here praying for them and their loved ones.

We give You all the praise and glory forever, Lord, and know that even in the darkest hours, You are always with us.

Lord God,

No one is a stranger to you
