Lord, my heart is heavy.
My circumstances feel overwhelming.
Even so, I choose to look to you.

Teach me how to praise you in my pain.
Even when I do not understand the road ahead.
In times when I am troubled and confused.

Yet I praise you because you are good and faithful.
When fear and worry try my soul, let my voice rise.
Cause my words to lift you up and praise you.

Exchange my heavy burden for your peace.
Help me see your strength in this valley.
Bring me to a place of praising and blessing.

Dear Lord,

I am tired and discouraged.

My body feels weak, and my mind feels heavy.

I give you my burdens. They are too heavy for me.

I cannot carry all these things on my own today.

Dear Lord,

I pray for the power to rejoice amid my trials, my pains and my sufferings.

May my life be a testimony of joy as others see your light shining through me.

Dear Lord,

Compassionate Lord,

I find myself on the edge, exhausted, and overwhelmed.
The burdens seem heavier than I can bear.

The tasks more significant than my strength.

My God,

I feel so alone, lost and forsaken.

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE COMMITTING SUICIDE

Lord, all hope has gone and I’m desperate.

I feel trapped by my circumstances. Life seems completely meaningless. I cannot see a way out.

O God, please redirect my thought life from what is negative or destructive. Please protect me from causing myself harm or injury.

Please give me courage and strength to face each day. Show me there is a way forward.

Give me the courage to admit I need help and that I will contact the people who can help me.

I feel such a failure, that my life is not worth anything, and that no one would miss me if I wasn’t here.

I’ve got no one to share my deepest innermost thoughts with.

Relieve the desperate turmoil and anguish I feel.

Amen.

Dear God,

On this last day of 2024, I find myself in need of grit.

Help me to leave the past behind and press on into the new year.

Give me the courage I need to face new challenges.

Bless me with perseverance when times are hard.

Teach me the importance of living life one day at a time.

When I am afraid, help me to let go of control and trust.

Thank you for your presence in my life.

I praise you for my life and the hope you have given.

Dear Father,

These seem to be days of struggle and uncertainty.

I come to you seeking your strength to press on in hardship.

The path seems too difficult and the burdens seem heavy.

Even so, I sense that you are with me in this journey of faith.

Grant me to have the courage to endure when I am faced with obstacles.

A prayer for as you get older

I’m tired.

As I grow older

fatigue comes sooner.

This worn and weary frame

no longer functions

as it once did.

That I may continue to serve You

and live the rest of my days

to their full

is my prayer.

I know, Lord, that I must learn

to recognize limitations,

to choose among opportunities,

to eliminate excess baggage.

But that knowledge comes hard.

I am not wise;

I need to understand

much more than I now know

of the practical application

of Your Word

to these matters.

Forgive me Lord

for not learning sooner,

for wasted time

and dissipated energy

I now wish I had.

I see the importance

of these commodities

now that I am beginning

to run short of them.

I want to serve You

to the end,

not in a lackluster manner,

nor in weariness of flesh,

but vivaciously,

conserving and wisely using

all my remaining strength

for Your glory,

Amen.

Dear Father,

My life is hard and I am not handling it well.

Help me to change my life.
