A PRAYER FOR STRENGTH

A prayer to be filled with the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18 (ESV)

18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Galatians 5:16 (ESV)

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:25 (ESV)

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

Lord, I ask that Your Spirit fill me today.  I want to be filled with the Spirit so that I may experience Your love, presence, and guidance in everything I do. 

I want to walk by the Spirit so that I will not gratify the desires of the flesh that displease you and hurt You. I do not want to give in to the desires of the flesh like sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, and orgies.

Rather, I want to experience the fruit of the Spirit in my life. The fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. 

I want to live by the Spirit, and keep in step with the Spirit!

Grant my desire to be filled with Your Spirit

Evidence!

Oh, LORD, give us HEARTS to be like You. Give us the desire within our spirits to SPEAK loudly with the way we live our lives. Help us to WALK like You walk. Help us to be the example of Christ to those around us. 

May the EVIDENCE of our lives be a REFLECTION and a TESTIMONY of Your Goodness and Grace! 

May our TALK be truly fulfilled in our Christian Walk… 

Let us just be like Jesus.

Lord,

a prayer to move beyond fear

Dear God.

Bad things are happening and I am frightened.

Things have gone out of control and I am worried.

It seems that the smallest things stress me out.

Teach me to trust you in these hard times.

Help me to find peace in the storms of my life.

Lead me through the heartache that I am feeling.

Give me the courage to love and move beyond fear.

Bless me that I might let go and follow you.

COURAGE AND JOY

God listens to those who worship Him

 ... the New Testament expands on the conditions, giving us a fuller view of what is involved in effective prayer:

  1.      John 9:31—“We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.”

  2.      John 14:13—“Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

  3.      John 15:7—“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.”

  4.      1 John 3:22—“Whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.”

  5.      1 John 5:14—“This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.”

As these passages reveal, there is more to receiving what we desire from God than the mere asking. Trust in God is not enough. There must be proper reverence for God, obedience to His will, and an ongoing communion with Christ. The request must be made in accordance with the revealed will of God, and in accordance with His nature and character.

God, hear my prayers. I pray and ask in Jesus' name, not because I believe it is a magical incantation, but in confidence because I believe and know that my prayer request is directed to You, my Saviour and Lord who loves me, and who is the Great High Priest, and intercessor.

I pray as your child who worships and adores You. I pray as Your child who seeks to faithfully walk with You in obedience to Your revealed will. I pray that God may be glorified in the answering of my prayers.

Father,

You know every challenge we face, every opposition in front of us. You know every desire of our heart, and you know the sins with which we struggle.  Forgive us for all the times we've gone our own ways, and for the ways we've chosen to figure this out on our own, rather than looking to you.

We ask for your guidance. Help us to listen to your voice, because when we don't we hurt each other, and we hurt ourselves. We need your deep, abiding presence. We need your powerful healing. So us the way forward with those we have hurt and have been hurt by. Move us together in unity.

We need your direction, because we are wayward. We need your strength, because we are weak. We often react with our emotions or our mind, rather than seek your will and turn to your word for help.

Holy Spirit, come, settle here and teach us in the moment, so that we may honor you and you alone.

Dear Lord,

The scriptures tell us that joy comes the morning after we grieve.
Teach us how to grieve well and how to mourn our losses.

Give us wisdom to know how to let go of our past pains.
Bless us that we might fully live in the now.

Cause us not to be overwhelmed by trauma and crisis.
We pray for hearts and minds that embrace our small joys.

Help us to experience the joy that is in your presence.
And remember that you are with us today and every day.

Dear Jesus,

Help me to spread Your fragrance everywhere I go.

Flood my soul with Your spirit and life.

Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly,

Hope and prayer

Dear God,

    I am full of wishes,

    full of desires,

    full of expectations.

    Some of them may be realized, many may not,

    but in the midst of all my satisfactions and disappointments,

    I hope in you.

    I know that you will never leave me alone

    and will fulfill your divine promises.

    Even when it seems that things are not going my way,

Only You, Jesus, can meet my desperate need for righteousness. Forgive me, Lord, when I channel my efforts through my own ineffective will power and fail to draw on Your power through time with You. Forgive me when I fail to yield to the Holy Spirit's work and wander from You, Jesus - my first love. 

Fill me with all that is good, Lord, and remove what is not bearing fruit. I want to be filled with the goodness of your Holy Spirit so that I may glorify you.

Thank You, Father, for making me more and more like Jesus as I trust and obey You. Thank you for covering me with Your grace as I grow. In my spiritual bankruptcy, remove the guilt of my sin and make me pure in heart. Help me desire Your righteousness as much as I desire my own comfort and peace. Help me mourn over the sin and pain in the world and to hunger after a deeper holiness. Fill me with Your fullest joy in the life You have given me.

Our Spirits Rejoice in God

Our soul glorifies the Lord and our spirits rejoice in God our Savior.

He has been mindful of the humble state of his servants.

All generations will call us blessed.

For the Mighty One has done great things for us — holy is his name.

His mercy extends to those who revere him, from generation to generation.

He has performed mighty deeds with his arm.

He has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

He has helped his servants, remembering to be merciful to them.

Lord, direct my heart to your love

Lord, when circumstances threaten to overwhelm me, direct my heart to your love.

Help me focus on your never-ending love for me.

Help me remember your promise to never leave me nor forsake me.

Help me to remember how faithful you have been in the past

Help me grow in my trust in your power to deliver me from evil.
Help me grow in strength and confidence as I remember the steadfastness of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the face of persecution. He never faltered because of His great love for me.

Lord, in a world filled with a myriad of voices promising me happiness, help me to focus on You.

Help me to realize that true happiness, joy, peace, satisfaction, and all the other good things I seek in life can only come from You.

Help me to see that the best the world has to offer is nothing compared to knowing You, walking with You, and seeking after You. 

Lord, following You can at times be difficult. But help me realize that these difficulties are temporary. Help me to have faith in You that the experience of true happiness and joy that I seek is just around the corner.
