ALL MY DAYS

Heavenly Father
*May this life that I live bring You praise
Blessing You and Your wonderful ways
In the work of my hands, and the words that I say
I will worship You, Lord, all of my days.

I will sing to Your name when I wake,
Giving thanks for each breath that I take.
From the first light I see,
To the last prayer I pray,
I will worship You, Lord, all of my days.

Psalm 5:3  "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;
In the morning I lay my requests before You
and wait in expectation."

Thankful

Psalm 100:1-5 (NLT)
1 Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. 3 Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Father for this Thanksgiving weekend I want to praise you. For family and friends and so many blessings. But not only for this weekend, also for a lifelong experience of your grace and goodness. For the comfort of your presence when I was in pain. For your peace that sustained me in troubled times. For your faithfulness in all circumstances. For your mercy when I was disobedient. For your love that never fails. For your discipline that I deserved and desperately needed. For the assurance and certainly of heaven which is my blessed hope. For the joy that makes glad my heart.

Thank You Father, for more blessings' than I can count, for more love than I can contain and for a life overflowing with your love.

In Jesus name through whom your grace flows and the Holy Spirit who's indwelling presence secures all you give to us. Amen.

As We Approach Christmas

Dear Lord,

Sometimes our minds get in our way and obscure our vision. Often we cannot see the many blessings that are in our lives. Help us to see with our hearts instead of our heads.

As we approach Christmas we pray that love and grace will lead us. Help us to live life with grateful hearts. To acknowledge your help every day. To praise you for who you are.

Amen

help us to be thankful in hard times

Dear Father,

It is hard to be thankful in hard times.
Help us to be thankful anyways.

Bitterness and pain can blind us.
Help us to be thankful anyways.

We are sometimes jealous of others.
Help us to be thankful anyways.

Grief and loneliness are so devastating.
Help us to be thankful anyways.

Help us to always be thankful. Amen

a prayer for grace when we lack

Lord,

All treasures of wisdom and truth and holiness are stored up in our boundless being. Grant that through our constant fellowship with you, those graces of Christian character may more and more take shape within me:

The grace of a thankful and uncomplaining heart;
The grace to await your timing patiently and to answer your call promptly;
The grace of courage whether in suffering or in danger;
The grace to ensure any hardship in the fight against evil;
The grace of boldness to stand up for what is right;
The grace of being adequately prepared for any temptation;
The grace of physical discipline;
The grace of truthfulness;
The grace to treat others as I would like them to treat me;
The grace of sensitivity, that I may refrain from hasty judgment;
The grace of silence, that I may refrain from thoughtless speech;
The grace of forgiveness toward all who have wronged me;
The grace of tenderness toward all who are weaker than myself;
The grace of faithfulness in continuing to desire that you will answer these prayers.

Amen

Remember

Heavenly Father you have told to us, many times through out the Bible, to remember and one of most important ones is: "Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering."  Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)

Heavenly Father as I remember those now, in ongoing suffering, in unjust and dehumanizing circumstance I pray for your grace and mercy to sustain them. Not only do I pray for Christians, but for those regardless of their faith system, culture, race, or nationality to be with them.

I pray for strength to help them persevere, for courage to help them be bold for the truth, for faith to help them trust you, for deliverance from the evil of those tormenting them, for peace of mind to deal with the doubts that trouble them and for the salvation, through faith in Christ, for the enemies of God who are the Devils tools of destruction and death.

Sovereign Lord, I trust your love, will, wisdom, power, justice, and plan as expressed in Romans 8:28 (NLT) "28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. "

Father there are many things I do not understand, but this I know, in all things you will be glorified and we will share in that glory as will all who trust in you.

1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT)
12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely."

Thank you Father in Jesus name. Amen.

help us to let go of the past

Compassionate Lord,

Wounds. Pain. Hurts that have scarred us.
Help us how to release these things.
Cause us to be people who forgive.

Rain grace and mercy on us Lord.
That we might let go of yesterday.
And find new joy in life today.

Bless us that we might be a blessing.
Teach us to be soldiers of grace.
That we might love like you do.

Amen

help us plan our way

Dear Father,

Help us each to live with confidence.
Teach us the discipline of having plans.
Yet cause us to be flexible each day.

We thank you Lord that you lead us.
Come Holy Spirit - adjust our steps.
We yield to the path you establish.

Mostly we desire to be one with you.
We long to enter into your plans.
Bless us to be at one with your heart.

Power in prayer

Today, I have been so convicted of the huge lack in my prayer life.

You see, I am a woman who whole heartedly attests to the power of prayer. I am a woman whose life has been touched over and over by the power of prayer. I am a woman who depends on prayer for her very existence. Her every breath. Her every move.

And yet, I find the consistency of my prayer life waning.

Today, my prayer is for anyone who finds their self in this very place.

I pray that we would all be seeking that deeper and more intimate prayer life with the Lord. I pray that we would all be more fervent in whispering prayers to our Savior. I pray that we would all be more diligent to carve out more time to get face down before the LORD and truly seek His face in everything we do.

Prayer… it is the key to our spiritual walk.
Amen

a prayer against our idols

Loving Heavenly Father,

Yours is surpassing greatness, unspeakable goodness, and grace.  We thank you for personal mercies; for a measure of health, the comforts of home, food, and clothing; for those moments of domestic peace and harmony; and for your ongoing protection of ourselves and those whom we love.

Yet we mourn our sin and profound ingratitude to you. We have not put our hope in you, and we have not waited patiently for you to act on our behalf. We have trusted and delighted in your creation rather than in you, and we have looked to our idols to make us glad, complaining bitterly when they have failed us. We have pressured people with the heavy weight of our needs and expectations, and sinned against them when they disappointed us. Father, forgive us.

Thank you that You will not condemn us.  You will not share us, pointing out our mountains of sin, for Jesus has leveled them. Instead you seek to convict us with your Holy Spirit's voice in grace and love, calling us back to you. Thank you for your wonderful Son, whose unshakable hope in you in the midst of life’s worst circumstances has now become our own.

Holy Spirit, help us to turn away from our sin and cling to the cross. May we hide in the wounds of Jesus and find shelter in his side. Cause us to place all our hopes in the powerful blood of our Savior and his perfect righteousness in our place. Let us know afresh the joy of our salvation.

Amen

HOW SWEET THE SOUND

How music fills the heart and prepares us for worship, thanksgiving and prayer.  I find praying the words of the old hymns, I learned as a child, have been a source of strength, truth and encouragement.  Join me in praying this old hymn, "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less"  (Edward Mote, 1834)

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name!

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in Him be found,
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Holy and Righteous Father, what security we find in the truth of this old hymn.  You are the Solid Rock, You are the Anchor of our soul.  Without You, we would be sinking sand, but because of Your unchanging grace, and the truth of  the Word of God, You are our hope and stay.  Amen.

Size

One Size does not fit all but one word does.

In a few days I will be 84 years old. What I have learned in those 30,660 days is that no day is identical to the other. All though similar yet each having shades of difference. Though one day or size doesn't fit all, one word does, and that word is GRACE.

John 1:14 & 16 (ESV)  "14 ...... the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth......16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace."

Heavenly Father, when I think of the infinite abundance of your grace given to us through your Son, I am in awe of you and truly amazed at the unlimited richness of your grace. As the Scriptures say:
" Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." Lamentations 3:23 (NLT)

Each day Father your grace uniquely fills our lives appropriately with  what we need for that day, be it spiritual or material. As you said to the Apostle Paul: ...“My grace is all you need. ....” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)

So  Father we give thanks for your grace given  to us each day  in your Beloved Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

to be his hands and feet

We remember Lord that you said:

I was hungry and you gave me food and drink.
  Help us to be people who share what we have.

I was sick and you looked after me.
  Help us to recognize those who are hurting.

I was in prison and you came to visit me.
  Help us to have hearts for those imprisoned.

I was a stranger and you invited me in.
  Help us to be a people who love the unlovable.

a prayer for harmony

Dear Lord,

I sometimes think that the unrest all around me comes from an unrest within me. Bless me with inner harmony dear Father.

When our nation and world seems so divided and often at war instill harmony in our hearts and minds that we might have peace.

Mostly Lord, help us to be ambassadors of harmony in the way that we live, the words that we say and things that we do.

In the name of the Prince of Peace, Amen.

Prayer for PEACE

If there was ever a time I have needed the peace of God in my life it’s been these last 5 months. The devastation of losing my sister to cancer has been almost too much for me to bear.

I have experienced the soul-shredding grief and gut-wrenching ache deep in my spirit that just won’t let go.

But I have also experienced the beautiful peace that only is bestowed by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT. Without His peace I could not take another step. Without His peace I could not go on.

His peace is what holds me. Calms me. Comforts me. And keeps me.

If you need this peace in your life, open the pages of scripture and dig deep. You will find it…

Amen

a prayer for reshaping

Only You, Lord God, can meet our desperate need for righteousness. You have no sin and made a way so we have a new nature! Through our trust in your Son Jesus, you now see me has clothed in Christ's righteousness. Forgive us when we rely on our own efforts, and teach us to fail submit to the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts.

Thank you for covering us more and more in the grace of Jesus. Thank you for your continued work in us as you mold us into the image of Christ.

Amen

Anvil Time

On God’s anvil. Perhaps you’ve been there.

Melted down. Formless. Undone. Placed on the anvil for . . .

reshaping? (A few rough edges too many.) Discipline? (A good father disciplines.) Testing? (But why so hard?)

I know. I’ve been on it. It’s rough. It’s a spiritual slump, a famine. The fire goes out. Although the fire may flame for a moment, it soon disappears. We drift downward. Downward into the foggy valley of question, the misty lowland of discouragement. Motivation wanes. Desire is distant. Responsibilities are depressing.

Passion? It slips out the door.
Enthusiasm? Are you kidding?
Anvil time.
It can be caused by a death, a breakup, going broke, going

prayerless. The light switch is flipped off and the room darkens. “All the thoughtful words of help and hope have all been nicely said. But I’m still hurting, wondering. . . .”

On the anvil.

Brought face-to-face with God out of the utter realization that we have nowhere else to go. Jesus in the garden. Peter with a tear-streaked face. David after Bathsheba. Elijah and the “still, small voice.” Paul, blind in Damascus.

Pound, pound, pound.

I hope you’re not on the anvil. (Unless you need to be, and if so, I hope you are.) Anvil time is not to be avoided; it’s to be experienced. Although the tunnel is dark, it does go through the mountain. Anvil time reminds us of who we are and who God is. We shouldn’t try to escape it. To escape it could be to escape God.

God sees our life from beginning to end. He may lead us through a storm at age thirty so we can endure a hurricane at age sixty. An instrument is useful only if it’s in the right shape. A dull ax or a bent screwdriver needs attention, and so do we. A good blacksmith keeps his tools in shape. So does God.

Should God place you on his anvil, be thankful. It means he thinks you’re still worth reshaping.

OH GIVE THANKS!!

November, the month dedicated to "GIVING THANKS" is upon us!  It's good to give thanks every day for all God's blessings, but especially we think of it in November.  The Bible is full of praise and thanksgiving.   For our Sunday prayer, I will quote Psalm 100.

"Shout with joy before the Lord, O earth, Obey him gladly; come before him, singing with joy.
Try to realize what this means ~ the Lord is God!  He made us ~we are his people the sheep of his pasture.

Go through his open gates with great thanksgiving; enter his courts with praise,  Give thanks to him and bless his name.  For the Lord is always good.  He is always loving and kind, and his faithfulness goes on and on to each succeeding generation."  Amen and Amen

For His Sake

Lord you told us clearly that living to honor you and spreading the Good News of the Gospel will result in hostility and suffering. In fact you said about the Apostle Paul in: "Acts 9:15-16 (ESV)  "But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”

It is also for us Lord to follow in the steps of Believers who throughout history have suffered in your name and for your glory. You have told us: "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12 (ESV)

Thank you Lord for both the grace to believe and the privilege to suffer for your sake. "29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, Philippians 1:29 (ESV)

Thank you Lord for the cross you bore for our sin and thank you for our cross of suffering that we can bare for your glory. Lord may we follow your example : "21 .... Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 1 Peter 2:21 & 23 (ESV) .

Amen!

We are disappointed with our lives.
Teach us to let go of control and rest.

Our hearts are saddened beyond measure.

for simplicity of faith

Dear Lord,

Life can become so complicated.
Help us to find you in the confusion.

Priorities can be conflicted and hard.
Give us inner vision of the heart.

Often our brain wants to trump our hearts.
Strengthen our inner selves to prevail.

We sometimes forget that life is in you.
Bring us back to simplicity of faith in You.

Most loving Father, you will us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on the One who cares for us. #80, BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER (2019)

Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this day.  O God, your unfailing providence sustains the world we live in and the life we live: Watch over those we love, those we don't know, those who work while others sleep, and grant that we may never forget that our common life depends upon each other’s toil
