Trusting Your Word

Dear Father God,
All Your words prove true, they are perfect and perfectly trustworthy. You have preserved it for us to know You and Your love for us. Your word brings joy to our hearts and give us clear insight for living. Thank You Father that Your ways are so much higher than my ways and Your will is perfect and pleasing. Thank You for Your never ending love. Amen

Trusting and Resting in God's Plan

“I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.” -Psalm 57:2

When you first believed in Christ, someone may have told you, “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.” So you launched out on your spiritual journey, comforted to know that God has a special plan just for you. But then, when troubles piled up – you received the bad medical report or your marriage fell apart – did you feel like you somehow got separated from that “wonderful plan”? In today’s Scripture, David says, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.”

There really is a purpose for your life, and God certainly will fulfill it. But that plan also includes some difficulty, pain, and disappointment. Jesus made this clear when He said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). Hardships will come. But in Him, we overcome.

Lord, how grateful I am that You have a game plan for my life, and that I don’t have to arrange events or force outcomes to make it all happen. I trust Your heart for me today. I rest in Your wise and loving plan, even when it includes situations that seem like obstacles and roadblocks. Amen

SEEKING AND SEARCHING

Jeremiah 29:13
"And you will seek me and find me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

Dear Lord ~ being close to you and knowing you is one of our deepest desires.  But it dosn't come easy.  There is a cost.  To find you and have a personal intimate relationship takes work.  Seeking is not easy.  Lord I misplace my keys or my glasses, and I search and seek diligently until they are found.  Oh, dear Savior, why don't I use that kind of energy to seek and search for You with all my heart?  Because it takes diligence...work, digging deep into your Word.  Studying it, meditate on it, ponder it.  But I know from experience, when I put in the work, seeking and searcing for You with all of my heart, I find You.  You were there all the time, but You needed me to learn obedience.  Thank You for your constance presence, when I follow your road map.  I love you dearly and deeply.  Amen.

Psalm 119:10-11 "I seek You with all my heart; do not let my stray from your commands.  I have hidden your word in my heart that I might now sin against You."

The Cross

1 Peter 2:24 (ESV)
   He himself bore our sins…….

Lord Jesus, I am startled and astonished by that statement. “He himself bore our sins…”  I can hardly think the thought or utter the words: “He himself bore our sins…”

I cannot lift my head or raise my eyes to behold such an unspeakable sight. I can only respond as another sinner: “…the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’
Luke 18:13 (NLT)

Such mercy reaches beyond our need. It is the love that defies dimension. Lord Jesus enable us to “…. know this love that surpasses knowledge-- Ephesians 3:18-19 (NIV)

And Lord Jesus I think of the song with such appropriate words: “I come to the cross seeking mercy and grace. I come to the cross, where you died in my place. Out of my weakness and into your strength, humbly, I come to the cross. Your arms are open. You call me by name. You welcome this child that was lost. You paid the price for my guilt and my shame, Jesus, I come to the cross.”  Written by Bob Somma and Bill Barstone

Lord Jesus, thank you for bearing my sin and bringing forgiveness and healing to my soul. It is the significance of the Cross!

Amen.

The love of Your Spirit

Dear Father, I surrender to the love of Your Holy Spirit, which has been shed abroad in my heart, fill me and flow through me, producing the love that fulfills Your Law. Help me to love You and to love those I encounter today. In whatever opportunity placed before me, I pray that Your Spirit will guide in my actions and the words I speak. Amen

empty prayers

And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. [Matthew 6:7-8 CEV]

Two phrases pop out at me: "empty phrases" and "many words".

Several times a week I pray the Lord's prayer in a group setting. I have to consciously slow myself down so that I can think about the words that I am praying. It is so easy to pray and not think about the words that we are praying.

Jesus helps us by telling us that it is not really about the great words that we speak. He indicates that prayer is simply sharing our hearts with the Father. Not really the effective communication of our prayers but simply the actual act of prayer.

Lord, you already know about what we need. You patiently wait for us to simply pray. You long for us to invite you to help us. You long for us to simply share our hearts with you. Slow us down Father. Help us to be real when we pray.

Amen

Christ with me

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

MY SHIELD

2 Samuel 22:31
"As for God, His way is perfect.
The word of the Lord is proven.
He is a shield to all who trust in Him"

Dear Heavely Father, Gracious and Merciful God how could we lift our souls to another?  Father, make this verse very real in our hearts.  We know your way is perfect, help us to stay in the "way" and not stray.

Father, your Word is proven over and over again.  Not just for us, but throughout history.  Every generation has seen that Your word is true and does just what it says.

Your protection, Your shield is ours by child like faith, trusting You with our lives, our family, friends, and daily choices.  That shield also protects us from those fiirey darts Satan would love to defeat us with.   Lord, You are Good, Holy, Righteous, Truth, Love, Merciful.....How could we lift our hearts to another?  You are the One and Only God and Savior.  I love You.  Amen.

Mercy

The Mercy of God is overwhelming to contemplate and beyond thrilling to experience. It is receiving what we could never deserve, earn or buy. It is the gift of God for all who will receive it by faith in His Son, Jesus.

Thank you heavenly Father for Your generosity beyond measure and so wonderfully revealed in the humble and simple prayer of an honest sinner. “And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!” Luke 18:13

His Mercy is More

Lyrics for His Mercy Is More by Matt Papa

[Verse 1]
What love could remember, no wrongs we have done
Omniscient all-knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea, without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

[Verse 2]
What patience would wait, as we constantly roam
What Father so tender, is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

[Verse 3]
What riches of kindness, He lavished on us
His blood was the payment, His life was the cost
We stood 'neath a debt, we could never afford
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

[Chorus]
Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
Micah 7:18 (NIV)
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

Amen.

Morning Needs

O God the author of all good, I come to You for the grace another day will require for its duties and events. I step out into a wicked world; I carry about with me an evil heart. I know that without You I can do nothing, that everything with which I shall be concerned, however harmless in itself, may prove an occasion of sin or folly, unless I am kept by Your power. You hold me up and I shall be safe.

Preserve my understanding from subtilty of error, my affections from love of idols, my character from stain of vice, my profession from every form of evil. May I engage in nothing in which I cannot implore Your blessing, and in which I cannot invite Your inspection. Prosper me in all lawful undertakings, or prepare me for disappointments. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with food convenient for me, lest I be full and deny You and say, Who is the Lord? or be poor, and steal, and take Your name in vain.

May every creature be made good to me by prayer and Your will. Teach me how to use the world and not abuse it, to improve my talents, to redeem my time, to walk in wisdom toward those without, and in kindness to those within, to do good to all men, and especially to my fellow Christians. And to You be the glory. Amen

guide and direct our steps

Father,

We look to you today as we seek to stay in step with your Spirit. We keep our eyes on you and ask for your help to guide and direct us. It's our prayer that we live our lives to glorify and honor you alone.

Hold our hands when we stumble and show us which way to go. Help us surrender each moment of our lives to your will, and help us find joy in this submission. Father, we know you want what is best for us, and help us trust in you as you guide our path.

Father, may you delight in every detail of our lives. May you be blessed by the direction of our steps.

AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

2 Corinthians 5:20,21  "Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us:  we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For he made him to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness in him."

Dear Lord, it's overwhelming to me that You would choose to "plead through me" but that is what Your Word says.  Because we are your ambassadors we do it on Your behalf.  Give me the courage to implore people as though it were You, to be reconciled to God.   What a duty, what a priviledge!  Lord help me to be a faithful ambassador in this awesome task.  I love You.  Amen

The Great Physician

Father, we recognize that healing is by your power, and according to your will in accomplishing your purpose in our lives. All of this comes about as a result of our loving trust and obedience to your Word.
We know the truth and reliability of your promise in Romans 8:28 (NLT)  … God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
So, today Father, we seek your healing according to your will and for your glory. This is a good day in which we will experience the power of your love perhaps in miraculous ways.
For this we thank you in the Name of Your beloved Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

a presidential prayer

Increase my faith in the sweet promises of the gospel;

give me repentance from dead works;
pardon my wanderings,
and direct my thoughts unto thyself,
the God of my salvation;

teach me how to live in thy fear,
labor in thy service,
and ever to run in the ways of thy commandments;
make me always watchful over my heart,

that neither the terrors of conscience,
the loathing of holy duties, the love of sin,
nor an unwillingness to depart this life,
may cast me into a spiritual slumber.

Amen

a prayer for peace

O Lord, Our Rock and Our Redeemer,

We praise your name this day, the name above all names. The names which cause demons to tremble and our hearts to soar. We bow down before you, grateful for this new day you've given.

We know that when you sent your Son, you came to bring peace between us and you. We needed to be reconciled to you, Father, and you made a way by giving us Jesus. Thank you for restoring the peace we destroyed with our rebellion.

We ask for that same peace between us and our relationships here on earth. We ask for us to have eyes to see what is broken between us and those we love. Give us a heart to sense what needs to be restored, and give us ears to hear the wisdom of your truth. Help us restore peace, shalom, in this world and in our hearts.

Amen

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

I Peter 4:11 "If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God.  If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christm, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever.  Amen."

Father God, when we realize it's not about us, but about You can we truly understand what this verse is saying to us.  When we speak, it needs to be Your Word.  When we minister it's with the ability that is supplied by You.  And why?  Because everything we do is to bring You glory through Jesus Christ, because the glory and dominion belongs to Him.  Past, present, future, forever and ever.  Thank You for supplying all that we need to speak and minister those who are lost.  I Love You.  Amen.

The Marvel, The Majesty and The Miracle of life.

Psalm 119:73 (NLT)
You made me; you created me…….”

Job 10:10-12 (NLT)
10 You guided my conception and formed me in the womb. 11 You clothed me with skin and flesh, and you knit my bones and sinews together. 12 You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care.

Psalm 139:13-15 (NLT)
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

Thank you Heavenly Father that the Holy Scriptures, stunningly affirms, the wonder and imagination in your creation of the human race. You are the creator, sustainer, giver and preserver of life with its infinite value and unlimited opportunities. Thank you that there are no insignificant people in your sight, but that we all stand, from the moment of conception, on the common ground of your grace, mercy and love. Thank you again Father, that from  conception, we are all precious in your sight.

Thank you Heavenly Father for the Marvel, The Majesty and The Miracle of life. In Jesus name, Amen.
