Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

A LIVING SOUL

Geneses 2:7  "The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living soul."

Dear Lord, when you formed man in Your image out of the dust of the ground, You were building a temple.  And as a creature of the dust, I too am a temple.  You have placed my name above the door and now You stand at the door and knock, waiting for me to invite You in.  Lord of heaven, come and be the Lord of this piece of earth.  Come and fill this temple with the living breath of Your Holy Spirit.  Make it a place of worship.  Find Your rest within its walls.  Be enthroned on my praises.  I love You.  Amen.

trinity prayer

Father I thank You
For all that You've done
You gave Your Son freely for me
And I praise You for calling me
Drawing me near
Out of blindness
You caused me to see

Spirit of life
You are God's holy fire
You've kindled my heart with Your blaze
And I know You're refining me
Changing my life
And by faith You're revealing Your ways

Jesus I need You
As Lord of my life
I give all I have unto You
Lord I want to come
Under Your heavenly hand
And to praise You in all that I do

Amen

Don't Lose Heart

Dear Father, I will not lose heart over all that is happening around us. This world is not my home and even though our physical selves are wasting away day by day, no matter how we try to care for them, yet our inward selves, our spirits, are being renewed by your Spirit day by day. The light and momentary struggles we face are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs all the struggles we face. So I am fixing my eyes, keeping my gaze on you, your word, your truth, which I see by faith rather than the circumstances of this life. What I see is temporary, what I cannot see is eternal, forever permanent, never ending, and I give you thanks for that. Amen

Lord, I'm keeping my eyes on You.
I won't look to the left or right
My only goal is keeping You in my sight.

Breathe on me, Breath of God

Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will, to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life of thine eternity.

Amen

for doctors and nurses

I was released yesterday from a 3 day stay in the hospital. Ambulanced to the ER with chest pains at 4 in the morning. Had a bunch of tests and was released yesterday evening. Seeing my primary care physician later this week. These prayers seem so appropriate for the day. Thankful I am posting this from home. ツ

Dear Lord,

Inspire doctors and nurses everywhere with a love for their art and for your creation.

Do not allow thirst for profit, ambition for renown and admiration, to interfere with their profession, for these are the enemies of truth and of love for mankind and they can lead astray in the great task of attending to the welfare of your creation.

Preserve the strength of their bodies and of their souls that they ever be ready to cheerfully help and support rich and poor, good and bad, enemy as well as friend.

In the sufferer let them see only the human being.

Illumine their mind to recognize what presents itself and that it may comprehend what is absent or hidden. Let their mind not fail to see what is visible, but do not permit it to arrogate to itself the power to see what cannot be seen, for delicate and indefinite are the bounds of the great art of caring for the lives and health of Thy creation.

Let these never be absent-minded. May no strange thoughts divert their attention at the bedside of the sick, or disturb their mind in its silent labors, for great and sacred are the thoughtful deliberations required to preserve the lives and health of Thy creatures.

Let doctors and nurses everywhere be contented in everything except in the great science of their profession. Never allow the thought to arise in them that they have attained to sufficient knowledge, but vouchsafe to them the strength, the leisure and the ambition ever to extend their knowledge.

Almighty God! Thou hast chosen these in Thy mercy to watch over the life and death of your creation. Give these grace to apply themselves to their professions. Support them in this great task so that it may benefit mankind, for without Thy help not even the least thing will succeed.

Amen

A THOUSAND SONGS

Lord You're calling me to come
And behold the wondrous cross,
To explore the depths of grace
That came to me at such a cost;
Where Your boundless love
Conquered my boundless sin
And mercy's arms were opened wide.

My heart is filled with a thousand songs
Proclaiming the glories of Calvary
With every breath, Lord how I long
To sing of Jesus who died for me
Lord take me deeper
Into the glories of Calvary.

My heart is filled with a thousand songs,
I love You.  Amen

Lay It Down

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for bearing our sins and griefs--it is such a privilege to come before You and share the burdens we carry and cast them at Your feet because You care for us. Why would we ever choose to give up such a gift from You? To know that You will give us peace when we come to You with trusting hearts knowing You will work all things together for good.  We should never be discouraged knowing and recalling Your faithfulness to us in the past. We are His

“Do not fear; for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

When things get tough - and they will - we need to remember these beautiful words of our LORD. He gives us some extremely important direction in this passage.

He tells us there is no need to fear. We don’t ever have to be afraid.

He reminds us that we have been redeemed.

He calls us by our name.

But the sweetest of all.... He says we are His. We belong to Him.

When we pray... when we fall on our faces in defeat and despair... we have this wonderful passage of Scripture to recall and claim as our own.

No fear. Only redemption and the knowledge that He calls us His.

UNCLEAN ~ UNCLEAN

Can you imagine the pain and suffering of bleeding for twelve years.  And more than the pain and suffering, but her whole income spent on doctors to no avail.   But probably the worst, was to be considered "unclean" for twelve years.  Not able to go to the Temple to pray for hear the teachers of the Word.  She was an outcast, poor and alone!.

She heard about a Prophet named Jesus who was healing the lame, the blind and demon possessed.  She longed to meet Him to have him heal her.  But the crowds, they pushed and shoved as they followed him to the house of a ruler who's daughter had died.   She thought if only I could tough the edge of his cloak, I will be healed.  She pushed forward keeping her face covered with her shawl.  Then she was behind him.  Did she dare!!   Reaching out, she did the unthinkable...she touched the hem of his cloak and immediately felt the bleeding stop!!   Jesus turned and saw her.  "Take heart, daughter.  Your faith has healed you."

This is the only recorded time that Jesus called a woman "daughter".  What a blessing and honor to be called the daughter of God.

Oh Lord, I don't have a clue to that kind of suffering.  But I know you are gracious, loving and full of mercy and when someone reaches out in faith and touches you....you come to them.  You receive them.  Thank you for this woman and the message she shares with us.  Help me to have that kind of faith in the midst of suffering and pain.  I love You.  Amen

we give you our discontent

Oh God, today we give you our discontent,
we give you our restlessness,
and we give you our despair.

Help us to be renewed in your abounding love,
to cling to your wisdom,
and to do the work that needs to be done.

Amen.

His comfort and hope

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” Amen

a brokenhearted prayer

God, you care deeply for brokenhearted people.
This is a promise you make: You are close.
We pray for all those who are crippled by broken relationships.

Our hearts take the blow of disappointment.
We feel crushed because our hopes are dashed.
God, heal broken hearts.

We cannot fix our own wounds. But you can.

If pieces of our heart have been lost, or are held captive by another,
recover them and bring them back to us and miraculously “put us back together”
so that our heart is whole again.

You are a mender of broken hearts.
We ask for this miracle,
in the name of Jesus. Amen.

spreading a heavenly fragrance

Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others.

I love this prayer credited to Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Can you relate to wanting to spread His fragrance everywhere you go and desiring Him to shine through you?

Pray this prayer with me and join me in saying amen to it.

when all is darkness

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.

Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

prayers for passages

June is a time of passages. Young adults graduate and some marry in this month. Many take some time off and vacation in far off places. So, in this month of passages, I thought that it would be a good idea to intercede for these. Please join me in prayer.

For those who have remained faithful to their studies and worked with diligence in hope of graduation day we give thanks Lord. We ask that you would guide them and direct them with regard to employment and future studies. Cause them to seek you in prayer as they mature in life. Cause them to grow in grace and wisdom.

For those who will marry we join them in their celebration Lord. We pray that Godly foundations would be laid in their relationships. We ask that you would help them to live responsibly and to not go in debt. Cause marriages all over the world to radiate your love and husbands and wives come together in prayer.

For those who will take time off this summer we pray that their vacations will not be tiring but will be times of refreshing. We ask that you watch over families as they travel and keep them safe. Cause families to heal and come together in love as they spend time traveling and enjoying life. Help to create precious memories.

a prayer of commitment

Lord, I commit my failures
as well as my successes
into your hands,
and I bring for your healing
the people and the situations,
the wrongs and the hurts
of the past.
Give me courage, strength and generosity
to let go and move on,
leaving the past behind me,
and living the present to the full.
Lead me always to be positive
as I entrust the past to your mercy,
the present to your love,
and the future to your providence’.
Amen

for peace among the nations

O Almighty God,
the Father of all humanity,
turn, we pray, the hearts of all peoples and their rulers,
that by the power of your Holy Spirit
peace may be established among the nations
on the foundation of justice, righteousness and truth;
through him who was lifted up on the cross
to draw all people to himself,
your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

a prayer for love, peace and hope

These thoughts from the late Martin Luther King Jr. inspire me to pray..
Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
Forgive us dear Lord for walking in darkness. We ask you Father to fill us today with love that transforms us. Love that drives out hate. Loves that sheds light on our dark ways.

We desire dear Lord to be agents of reconciliation and hope. Fill us with peace and cause us to pursue peace with those who are different from us. Help us to see all people as your children.

Lord fill us with hope. We need your hope to replace our cynicism and fatalism. We desire to follow you. We need to be filled today. Cause love, peace and hope to spring fresh from our hearts today.

And cause us Lord to be people who pray.

Amen
