O Lord,

We thank you for this wonderful gift of our love which You have generously granted us and which allows us to build a true communion of persons between us --- provided we remain ever open to You, the Source of all love.

Help us to continue to love each other and accept each other unconditionally, as we get to know each other better.

Make us generous in giving and humble in receiving.

Enable us to communicate to one another all our joys, sufferings, and desires and all our hopes, sorrows, and difficulties.

Give us the power of Your Love that we may forget self and live for each other so that we may have truly one spirit, in preparation for the time when You will send us children to add to our union and love.

Dearest Father,

If there is going to be peace on earth, we need to love.

Challenge us to love and accept those who are different.

Teach us to see them with your eyes and your heart.

Enlarge our hearts when we are tempted to judge them.

Each day we confess our need for your wisdom and heart.

Bless us to be like Jesus and to be led by your Spirit.

We commit ourselves to your love, that flows in and through us.

Dear Jesus,

Help me to spread Your fragrance everywhere I go.

a farmers prayer

A pastor asked an older farmer to say grace for the morning breakfast.

"Lord, I hate buttermilk", the farmer began.

The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going.

The farmer loudly proclaimed, "Lord, I hate lard."

Now the pastor was growing concerned.

Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, "And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour".

The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable.

Then the farmer added, "But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits.

So Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard, when we don't understand what you're saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing.

It will probably be even better than biscuits.

Dear Lord,

I am reminded that Paul wrote to us about contentment.

In his writing he told us that he learned to be content.

I wonder if learning to be happy and being content is related?

Bring wholeness and healing to us Lord.

Help us to find happiness in the things that we have.

Teach us to smile with our children and friends.

Bless us that we might find joy in unexpected places.

Help us to forget what lies behind and embrace the hope we have today.

In all things, and in all ways, help us to learn to be happy each new day.
