Daily Prayer

PEACE

There are gifts so unique that only God can give them. These gifts not only have an earthly quality but also an eternal affect. There attainment is beyond human

effort, merit, and purchase.

James tells us:“Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father ….” James 1:17 (NLT)

John the Baptist said: “…..No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. John 3:27 (NLT)

Paul tells us: “ ⁶Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Jesus said: “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 (NLT)

How powerful is this peace Jesus gives? His peace can calm every storm, answer every doubt, and conquer every fear. His peace is more than a quality or quantity, it is a person. “For he himself is our peace….” Ephesians 2:14 (ESV)

Isaiah spoke of Him long ago: “⁶For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (NLT)

Heavenly Father, thank you for this wonderful peace that comes from your grace, through your son and by your Spirit to all who believe in Him.

Father,

We lift up the Lebanon area and Beirut to you right now.

We pray for ministering angels to go and love and help everyone impacted through this horrific tragedy.

We know your Holy Spirit is there comforting, guiding, and helping.

prayer as an offering

Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15)

This is one of my favorite prayer verses.

It begins with an invitation to pray and to have others pray for you.

It also speaks to prayers being answered.

In the middle of the passage it says "the prayer offered in faith".

Have you ever thought of prayer as an offering?

The Old Testament is full of altar offerings but we seldom think of prayer as an offering.

When we pray we offer our needs and indeed ourselves to the Lord in faith.

As we share our hearts with God we believe that He hears and answers.

We offer ourselves and our needs to you today dear Lord.

Please answer according to your wisdom. Have mercy on us.

FEELING AT HOME

Father, do you feel at home in my heart, in my life? I pray that my heart will be pure and my mind single. My thoughts only of You. My desire to be in Your Word, and learn of You. To know you, to understand and obey You in all that I do. Lord, I want you to feel at home with me. Lord, I know you desire my life to be sincere, transparent, to act in humility and love. Help me to do that each and every day. Lord I pray this is the prayer of anyone and everyone who will read this prayer blog. I love You. Amen.

LOOK INTO HIS FACE

Look into His face

Isaiah 50:6 (HCSB)
”I gave My back to those who beat Me, and My cheeks to those who tore out My beard. I did not hide My face from scorn and spitting.”

Isaiah 52:14 (NLT)

“But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human…”

Isaiah 53:12

“….. He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.”

Jesus prayer for sinners: “Father, forgive them….” Luke 23:34 (KJV) “The wonder of all wonders is that Jesus prays for them, that His heavenly Father would open their eyes and help them to see their sin. He wants them to turn to Him in faith and repentance and not in vengeance. It declares guilt but also offers forgiveness at the same time.” Quote from John Neposlan and picture from Janet E. Brown.

Heavenly Father, other than what the Scriptures tell us, and some movies depict for us, I do not know how mangled Jesus body was nor how marred his face became from the beatings inflicted on him. I do know his greatest anguish was in his soul suffering for the punishment of my transitions and paying the penalty for my sin. In a way that is deeper than I can understand is Isaiah's prophecy “He poured out His soul unto death…..” Isaiah 53:12 (NKJV)

And even deeper still does Matthew record: “From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over the whole land. ⁴⁶ About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Elí, Elí, lemá sabachtháni?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:45-46 (HCSB)

Holy Father, only the Triune God knows the infinite density of that terrifying darkness. Therefore help us mortal, miserable and unworthy sinners to look at the face of Jesus, hear his prayer for us and then recognize and repent of our sin. There is no other hope or help than: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
