"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord....Suddenly a great company of the heavenly hosts appeared with the angel praising God and saying...."Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests".
Luke 2:8-14
Shepherds were the lowest on the pay scale. Living with their animals, smelling like them, wearing stained and dirty clothes far from the lights of the city. Yet, on this most monumental night, it was the Hosts of Heaven in their royal garments, shining with the Glory of Heaven that appeared to these humble shepherds. Truly Riches visited the Rags of humanity that night. The message was for ALL PEOPLE...from the lowly shepherds, to kings on thrones, to YOU and ME.
One day when I said yes to the savior...he took my ragged dirty clothes, and gave me a robe of righteousness.
Dear Lord, don't ever let us forget how lost we were, and how you looked down and left the glories of heaven to come to earth as a babe, so you could live out Your life, die on the Cross, and save a Lost World. For all of those that would say yes, You turned our rags to riches. I love You. Amen.
