Show me Your Way

Oh Lord, I pray that today You will show me the right path, point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you and what Christ has done for me. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. You are good and do what is right; You show the proper path to those who go astray. You lead the humble in doing right, teaching them your way. You lead with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep your covenant and obey your demands. For the honor of your name, O Lord, forgive my many, many sins. Amen

The Boondocks Saints Prayer

A few years ago the movie Boondocks Saints came out replete with this prayer ...

And Shepherds we shall be
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti.

The final line is in Latin and loosely translates:

"In the name of the father, of the son, and the Holy Spirit"

I resonate with a desire to flow with God like a river as I obey him in all things.

Refuge

Psalm 5:11-12 (NLT)

¹¹ But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. ¹²For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.

Father, in view of the violence that we witness, there are three words in this passage that give me peace of mind : refuge, protection, and shield. We see so many victims and so little justice. I am reminded of what Jesus said: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 (NLT)

Father I pray for those suffering that they will find refuge in your strength, protection in your power and the shield of love in your compassion. Though at times we are dismayed and disquieted by the trials we face, we take to heart your word to Paul: “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) Therefore Father “We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 3:4 (NLT)

Father, help us to remember Psalm 91:14 (NLT)
The LORD says, “…. I will protect those who trust in my name.

My Hope

Back to School Prayer

Lord I pray for our school age kids and grandkids.

Grant them peace and a peaceful learning environment.

Protect them from the temptations of the evil one.

Help them to have friends that build them up and not tear them down.

Open their minds to wisdom that they might discern truth.

Encourage them with the caring of teachers and friends.

Bring to their mind daily how much they are loved by you.

And in all this bless them to enjoy learning new things.

moved by our request

One of the hardest parts of the prayer process is the waiting.

Those times when you are fervently pleading with God for mighty and powerful things to take place in someone’s life. Those times when a loved one needs healing and you are begging Him for a miracle. Those times when you need to see even just a glimpse of His Hand working in a particular situation.

And you wait....

And it’s hard...

But the beautiful thing about our God is we can know that He hears our cry. He hears our prayers. He listens to the desperate longings of our heart. And He responds.

Manasseh was an evil and wicked king. He heard the voice of the LORD warn him many times and yet He rejected and ignored it. After years of turmoil and continued rebellion and disobedience, Manasseh was taken captive and led away to Babylon.

“But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the LORD his God and sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors. And when he prayed, the LORD listened to him and was moved by his request...” (2 Chronicles 33:12,13)

What a glorious verse! You see, when we are sincere and humble before our God, He listens and He is “moved by our request”.

Oh my friends, He loves us so. Don’t get weary in the waiting, but get strong! Keep pouring out in humble and authentic prayer, knowing that the Creator of all is listening and is moved by our prayers!!

“I cried out to the LORD, and He answered me from His holy mountain.” (Psalm 3:4)

Father,

You are the only one worthy of our worship You deserve all praise and glory and honor. You are a gracious God, slow to anger and quick to forgive. We trust you because you are faithful. You are God who keeps his promises, a God who forgives and takes care of his people.

We come to you as your children, longing to hear from you and asking for your powerful and divine healing. There's so much we don't understand about life, about the way you order the universe. But we do know that with one touch, one word, you can make us whole.

You heal our hearts with the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, where the veil tore and we were no longer separated from you. You heal our minds, giving us understanding and a comforter in the Holy Spirit. And you can also heal our bodies, as they are broken and in need of repair.

We boldly ask for healing now.

We know you are all we need. We believe you are the great healer, Jehovah Rapha. You know our pain, O Lord. You know our hurts even more intimately than we do. Make us whole. Whether we need healing in our hearts, minds, or bodies, God, we BELIEVE you heal. Heal us, Father.

NO ACCIDENTAL MEETINGS

Proverbs 15:23 "A man finds joy in giving an apt reply ~ and how good is a timely word!

In God's plan there are no accidental meetings. In each encounter God has a purpose for both the needy person and you. You may be the one who can really help and counsel the person.

Determine to be an encouragement to everyone whom God brings across your path. It costs little to say a kind word and to communicate a sense of support. We never know where a kindness will lead, because only God can see the potential of the man or woman in our presence. ~ Jerry White (1937)

Dear Lord, as I travel this journey called life, let me be ever ready to give an apt reply, a timely word, a word of encouragement and support. You have said we will find JOY in doing just that. We are here to be your voice, your hands, your feet. Help me each day to see that there are no accidental meetings. I love You. Amen.

Father, how humbly grateful we are for your grace that is greater than our sin, your love that reaches beyond our need, and your mercy that has no limit. There is no greater motivation to love and serve you than to grasp and embrace the infinite sacrifice you paid to ransom us from the bondage and penalty of sin . It is a gift beyond measure and a treasure beyond calculation.

Thank you Father for the priceless gift of your Son, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen!

Be Our Help

Lord, we are in the world but not of the world. All around us is everything Jesus died to deliver us from. Keep us from going back to where you brought us from. You have shown us a better way with greater rewards. The truth of your word shines bright and lights the way of your righteous path. May we remain as the apple of your eye. Help us to not be discouraged but to trust and believe in Christ Jesus alone. He is our very present help in the time of trouble. Thank you God for protection and power. In Jesus name I pray and give thanks. Amen

Lord, I would trust Thee completely; I would be altogether Thine; I would exalt Thee above all.

I desire that I may feel no sense of possessing anything outside of Thee.

I want constantly to be aware of Thy overshadowing Presence and to hear Thy speaking Voice.

I long to live in restful sincerity of heart.

a prayer for purpose

Most High and Holy God,

We think of Esther 4:14 today, "And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” as we bow our heads in prayer today.

We acknowledge that you are sovereign and know all things of the future, present, and past.

We acknowledge that you plan and guide our very steps as we seek to serve you.

We acknowledge that you graciously give us strength and power to be your witnesses here on earth.

We stand in the truth that you have made us for a purpose.

Open our eyes to what is all around us, O God... what you have placed in our path. Help us to see the needs that you see, the people the way you see them, and your will as you desire it to be fulfilled. And guide our steps, every single one, so that we may bring you glory.

THE PASSION OF DEVOTION

Revelation 4:8 "Day and night they never stop saying "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

The passion of devotion lies in prayer. The spirit of devotion fills the hearts of God's children and characterizes their worship. The inspiration and center of their joyful devotion is the holiness of God. That holiness of God claims their attention and inflames their devotion.

There is nothing cold, nothing dull, nothing lifeless about them or their heavenly worship. What zeal! The ministry of prayer, if it be anythinbg worthy of the name, is a ministry of passion, a ministry of tense longing after God and His holiness.

Father God, I long to be in Your presence, singing praises with a spirit of passion and devotion to You. I love You, Amen
