a prayer of God's goodness and presence in times of trouble
But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. (Isaiah 43:1-2
Dear heavenly Father,
Your Word is solace for the sad and balance for the bewildered, a firm rock for those rocked by life's circumstances and bread from heaven for the hungry on earth. This isn't theory, the wisdom of sages, or just true and good theology. It's our reality.
And we praise you.
You've made promises you alone can keep, and you do not lie. No god is as near or good, merciful or mighty as you—no matter the storm or season.
As you have spoken clearly through Isaiah, you created us and are redeeming us, all for your glory. You summoned us by name, calling us to life in the gospel. You gave us a new name-"Mine." There's no sweeter, more perspective-giving or more peace-generating name you could call us. You never promised we wouldn't experience floods and torrents, fires and flames. But you have promised to be with us. To know your great affection for us and your absolute sovereignty over everything is enough, Father
Indeed, we know ourselves to be precious, honored, and greatly loved, because you gave Jesus in exchange for us.
Though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty we might become rich (2 Cor. 8:9).
We praise you for the indescribable gift of the gospel.
And since you didn't spare your own Son, certainly we can trust you to graciously give us everything else we need (Rom. 8:32)—in current storms and future fires. We don't have to be afraid of anything or anyone. You are with us and you are for us.

Are you there God? Can you hear me?
I am in need of a friend. I am in need of you.
I offer you my friendship. Can you hear me?
I am confused and in need of clarity in my life.
I am looking for a sign and direction for my life.

Please make yourself real to me. Reveal yourself to me.

Dear God,
In these days of hurt feelings, I choose to forgive.
When people are unkind and hateful, I choose to forgive.
As I feel frustrated and weary, I choose to forgive.
Help me Lord to let go of the hurts and pain.
Cause me to be kind when I am exhausted by life.
Bless me that I might bless when I am offended.

A prayer for those struggling in life
I ask your prayers for all who face conflict;
for those for whom life is an endless struggle;
for those who are uncertain where their next meal will come from,
or if it will come at all;
for those for whom life seems dark and empty
and for all who are hungry in our greedy, selfish world;
for those sent away from the rich nation’s table empty-handed
although there is enough for all.
The Lord hears our prayer.
I ask your prayers for all who face conflict;
for those who are persecuted
and all who are tortured and imprisoned for their faith in Christ.
I ask your prayers for all who are neglected, ignored,
or made to feel as if they do not count.
I ask your prayers for those who, for the sake of others,
stand against injustice, corruption, and evil
and do so at great cost to themselves.

Father of all patience and hope,

Act of Approach
BENIGN LORD,
I praise thee continually for permission
to approach thy throne of grace,
and to spread my wants and desires
before thee.
I am not worthy of thy blessings and mercies
for I am far gone from original righteousness;
My depraved nature reveals itself in disobedience
and rebellion;
My early days discovered in me discontent, pride, envy, revenge.
Remember not the sins of my youth,

obey thee,
be upheld by thee.
Preserve my understanding from error,
my affections from love of idols,
my lips from speaking guile,
my conduct from stain of vice,
my character from appearance of evil,
that I may be harmless, blameless, rebukeless,
exemplary, useful, light-giving, prudent, zealous for thy glory
and the good of my fellow-men.

Live Your Prayers
I knelt to pray when day was done
And prayed, "O Lord, bless everyone,
Lift from each saddened heart the pain
And let the sick be well again."
And then I woke another day
And carelessly went on my way,
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye.
I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on the road.
I did not even go to see
The sick man just next door to me.
Yet once again when day was done
I prayed, "O Lord, bless everyone."
But as I prayed, into my ear
there came a voice that whispered clear,
"Pause now, my child, before you pray.
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God's sweetest blessings always go
by hands that serve him here below."
And then I hid my face and cried,
"Forgive me, God, I have not tried,
But let me live another day
and I will live the way I pray."

Heavenly Father,
Today we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. We honor their sacrifice and thank You for the freedom they helped preserve. With grateful hearts, we remember those who laid down their lives for the sake of others. Their sacrifice echoes the love Your Son showed us, laying down His life so we could live. Lord, comfort every family who grieves, and remind them that their loved one did not die in vain.
May their courage never be forgotten, and may their memory inspire us to live with purpose, gratitude, and love. Let peace reign where there has been war, and may Your justice and mercy guide us as a nation.
May their courage and service to our country inspire each one of us to serve our community and our neighbor.
