Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

YOUR FIRE AND HAMMER

Jeremiah 23:29 "Is not my Word like fire", declares the Lord, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?"

Your Word is like fire, O Lord.  Take my doubts and delusions and make them like straw that is consumed in the flame of Your Truth.  Where my heart is hard, make Your Word a hammer to shatter my self-will and resistance.  Lord, soften my heart and purify me.  I love You.  Amen.

Heaven

Jennifer Slattery JenniferSlatteryLivesOutLoud.com

“Imagine a place free of pain, sorrow, sickness, and sin. Imagine having nothing to fear—not rejection, failure, loss, or death. Imagine experiencing perfect relational intimacy with God and others. No more hiding, isolating, misunderstandings, or misinterpretations. Nothing but love and unity—the deep community our hearts long for. In heaven, with all of our deepest needs met and unhindered, constant access to our Savior, we’ll discover—and live in—the true source of joy, Jesus Christ, and the pleasures He grants will be eternal.”

Billy Graham: (In My Answer Column)

“By the time you read this, I will be in heaven, and as I write this I’m looking forward with great anticipation to the day when I will be in God’s presence forever. I’m convinced that heaven is far more glorious than anything we can possibly imagine right now, and I look forward not only to its wonder and peace, but also to the joy of being reunited with those who have gone there before me, especially my dear wife, Ruth. The Bible says, “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

But I won’t be in heaven because I’ve preached to large crowds or because I’ve tried to live a good life. I’ll be in heaven for one reason: Many years ago I put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to make our forgiveness possible and rose again from the dead to give us eternal life. Do you know you will go to heaven when you die? You can, by committing your life to Jesus Christ today."

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).

John 14:1-3 (NLT)
1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the blessed assurance and the glorious hope of heaven. And thank you for making it all possible through faith in your Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

Our Helper

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba Father!” GALATIANS 4: 6

Abba, thank you for sending a helper to direct my steps. You know everything and will guide me in your will. Help me to know your will. Keep me on the path you have set for me. Give me the desire to stay true to that path, and forgive me for the times I have already strayed from you. Be with my friends and family who are at a crossroads and don’t know what to do next. May your spirit guide them and make the best decision clear. Thank you for caring about the details of my life, for not believing any request is too small. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen

to be completely filled

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." -Romans 15:13 NLT

For those who despair, give them hope,
For those who mourn, fill them with joy.
For all who are struggling, bless them with peace.

Help us dear Lord to trust you with a trust that causes
life to overflow from our innermost being.

He can

Prayer.

Our lifeline.
Our hope.
Our everything.

Prayer draws us closer to God. Draws us to deeper intimacy with our LORD.
Prayer enables, empowers and encourages our spirits.

When we aren’t.....He is.

When we can’t....He can.

When we cry out we can know that He hears us. He loves us. He cares for us deeply.

When we neglect our prayer lives, we neglect our relationship with Christ.

Do we want to grow spiritually? We must pray.

Do we want to be transformed by Him? We must pray.

Do we want to honor and glorify Him in all that we do? We must pray.

God is available and attentive to our cries, our praise and our petitions. All we have to do is fix our gaze upon Him...fall before Him....and lift our voices to Him.

And He hears.

a prayer of surrender

O Great and Powerful God,

We stand small and weak before You, knowing Your power and might. Thankful that we can know You, be loved by You, and trust in who You are.

Help us surrender, Father. Surrender to Your will for our lives. Bind us to Your heart, knowing that in all Jesus did, we are Yours forever. In our rebelliousness, help us to obey. In our stubbornness, make us pliable. In our pride, give us humility. For Father, you are the One True God, in whom all things are possible. Bend our will to Yours alone.

Three Persons and one God, I bless and praise thee,
for love so unmerited, so unspeakable, so wondrous,
so mighty to save the lost and raise them to glory.
O Father, I thank thee that in fullness of grace
thou hast given me to Jesus,
to be his sheep, jewel, portion;
O Jesus, I thank thee that in fullness of grace
thou hast accepted, espoused, bound me;
O Holy Spirit, I thank thee that in fullness of grace
thou hast exhibited Jesus as my salvation,
implanted faith within me,
subdued my stubborn heart,
made me one with him for ever.

BILLY GRAHAM ~ GOD'S SERVANT

 Image result for billy graham

In tribute to a mighty but humble servant of Jesus Christ, I would like to share some of his quotes from my Worship Bible, and make my prayer one of thankfulness for Billy Graham's faithfulness to his Lord and Savior and to the Word of God.

" Our valleys may be filled with foes and tears; but we can lift our eyes to the hills to see God and the angles, heaven's spectators, who support us according to God's infinite wisdom as they prepare our welcome home."  ~ Billy Graham

"Christ made it clear that his coming , far from meaning peace, meant war.  His message was a fire that would set society ablaze with division and strife."   ~Billy Graham

"Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion ~it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ." ~ Billy Graham

"God proved his love on the cross.  When Christ hung and bled and died it was God saying to the world ~~I love you.    ~Billy Graham

"God does not discipline us to subdue us, but to condition us for a life of usefulness
and blessedness."  ~Billy Graham

"It is contrary to reason for a thirsty person to turn from a pure, sparkling mountain stream to quench his thirst from a stale, putrid cistern ~~yet that is what the human race does when it rejects God's truth and standards in favor of the devil's impure philosophies."  ~ Billy Graham

"It can be so easy at times to say we love people, and be completely honest and sincere in our expression.  But so often we don't see the lonely person in a crowd, or the sick and destitute man or woman whose only hope of escape may be the love we can give through Christ.  The love of God would have us reach down to each person.  ~ Billy Graham

These wonderful quotes show just a tiny glimpse into the man of God.  We love you, Billy Graham, you impacted our lives, and showed us Christ by your life and your ministry.  We look forward to seeing you in heaven.

Billy, Ruth, and God

Billy and Ruth were married for 64 years, and Billy Graham often said his ministry would have been impossible without his wife. They were called as a team.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT)
9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?  12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Father, in remembering your great and humble servant, Billy Graham, we also remember his wife Ruth and the balance and wisdom she brought to their life and ministry. Father they were a dynamic dual formed in your grace, to blend their lives together, in such a way that the world will forever remember their influence and impact for the Kingdom of God.

Thank You for their faithfulness to the Gospel, their vision for the world, and the example of their commitment to marriage and the family. Thank You for braiding them by Your Spirit into “a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

In the Name of Jesus our Savior, whom Billy Graham so enthusiastically and faithfully preached. Amen. PS – Now in heaven, it must have been quite a welcome home!!!

To God be the Glory!

Lord, I worship You for what I know about You and for what I don’t understand about You. You are too wonderful for words and beyond my comprehension. And yet, You call me to Yourself. I worship You for all You do in my life that I understand, and for all I don’t understand. Everything happens because of You, and through You, and for Your glory. To God be the glory forever. Amen

Billy Graham's Crusade Prayer

Many of us are rejoicing that Billy Graham no longer suffers and has passed on to heaven. To remember him, here is a prayer that he prayed over 60 years ago at Madison Square Garden at the New York Crusade in 1957. It is appropriate for us today.

Our Father and our God, we pray that … we all might be conscious that Thine eye is upon us. If God can see the sparrow fall, if He has the hairs of our head numbered, we know that He watches us, that He loves us, that He cares for us, and we’re told in Thy Word that He cares for us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to the cross to die that we might find forgiveness of our sins. We pray … that Thy Holy Spirit will draw all men unto the Savior, for we ask it in His Name. Amen.

a prayer for when feeling lost

Gracious God,

We praise you that you do not change, that you are righteous, holy, and worthy of worship. We lift your name high, because you are the only true God! One who makes us feel sure when all else around us feels unsure.

There are so many times we feel lost, Father. We feel lost in the brokenness of the world, in the midst of our sin, or when people sin against us. We can feel lost and run right the things that overwhelm us rather than to you. We can feel stuck in all that is unsure. Help us to find the certainty in who you are, Lord. The surety of your plan for our lives, the certainty of your love. We know we cannot change the world to be a certain place, but help us to know that we can be sure of the One who never changes: you.

Guide us and lead us, O God, into your great love.

"...even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me." (Psalm 139:10)

Amen

Great and Holy God

Great and holy God
awe and reverence
fear and trembling
do not come easily to us
for we are not
Old Testament Jews
or Moses
or mystics
or sensitive enough.
Forgive us
for slouching into Your presence
with little expectation
and less awe
than we would eagerly give a visiting dignitary.
We need
neither Jehovah nor a buddy-
neither “the Great and Powerful Oz” nor “the man upstairs.”
Help us
to want what we need...
You God
and may the altar of our hearts
tremble with delight
at
Your visitation
Amen

THE BODY OF CHRIST

Romans 15:30  "I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me."

Thank You, Father, for the fellowship of the Spirit in the body of Christ.  Thank You that when we come to You in prayer we are joined to one another.  How comforting it is to know that, even when I am separated physically from my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am never alone as long as I am in their prayers.  Thank You for praying friends.  I love You.  Amen
