Daily Prayer: June 2025

How long?

Do you ever feel like this deep down in your spirit?

How long, O LORD???

Do you ever pray and wonder if the LORD is listening? Does He hear?

Does He care about the anguish in your soul? The heartache? The pain?

One thing I have learned in my Christian walk is that He does listen and He does hear. He does care about our brokenness. Our deepest hurt. Our confusion.

Never give up. Never quit praying. Never stop crying out to God.

He loves us with an everlasting and incomprehensible love. A love we can trust. A love we can depend on.

We may not always be able to see that He is working, but we can know deep down into the depths of our being that He is.

Because His Word tells us this truth.

"In my distress I called to the LORD, and He answered me." (Psalm 120:1) CSB

Hang on to the promises of His Word. Hang on to His love.

And cry out to Jesus.

prayer of the farm worker’s struggle

Dear God,

Show me the suffering of the most miserable;
So I will know my people’s plight.

Free me to pray for others;
For you are present in every person.

Help me take responsibility for my own life;
So that I can be free at last.

Grant me courage to serve others;
For in service there is true life.

Give me honesty and patience;
So that I can work with other workers.

Bring forth song and celebration;
So that the Spirit will be alive among us.

Let the Spirit flourish and grow;
So that we will never tire of the struggle.

Let us remember those who have died for justice;
For they have given us life.

Help us love even those who hate us;
So we can change the world.

a prayer for giving our burdens to God

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves. (Ps. 68:19-20)

Dear Heavenly Father,

What a promise you've made, what a hope we have, and what a God you are. Thank you for being the kind of Father who bears our burdens—as opposed to ignoring, minimizing, or resenting them. To know that you bear our burdens on a daily basis frees us to be honest with you about the things that tend to wear us down and wear us out. Indeed, you are the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Cor. 1:3-5).

You are the God who saves us—not just from eternal separation from yourself but also in the present realities of life.

Father, some of us are overwhelmed with marriage, parenting, and family burdens. Helplessness isn't bad, if it will drive us to you. Help us to want you and your glory more than we want relief and a different story. Protect us from all counsel that might medicate our pain but not identify the real issues.

Father, some of us are fearful, fretful, even rage-full over the political landscape of our country, the legislative shifts in our culture, and the nuclear madness of our world. Lift these burdens from our hearts as you remind us that the throne of heaven is presently occupied (Rev. 4), that Jesus is currently the ruler of the kings of the earth (Rev. 1:5), and that nothing and no one can alter or annul your plans (Isa. 14:27; Eccles. 3:14)

Father, forgive us when we take back the burden of our guilt, even though Jesus has exhausted it; free us when we surrender yet again to the burden of our shame, even though Jesus has broken it.

Rescue us when we feign sovereignty and take on other people's burdens you don't intend for us to carry. Give us grace, wisdom, and power to live and to love to your glory.

In Jesus' merciful and mighty name we pray.

a prayer for our world

All powerful God,

You are present in the universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with your peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle, for justice, love and peace.

Prayer For A New Day

O God,

Help us today to welcome Jesus in our lives.

The Jesus whom we meet in our own family, among our friends, and in our cities.

And truly believe that as we reach out, we will discover that Jesus is still among us… still smiles at us… and still gives us his blessing.

Bless us today…. Each one who listens to the words of God.

And let something really new happen among us, that comes from your life-giving Spirit.

But now, this is what the Lord says—

Dear heavenly Father,

Your Word is solace for the sad and balance for the bewildered, a firm rock for those rocked by life's circumstances and bread from heaven for the hungry on earth. This isn't theory, the wisdom of sages, or just true and good theology. It's our reality.

And we praise you.

You've made promises you alone can keep, and you do not lie. No god is as near or good, merciful or mighty as you—no matter the storm or season.

As you have spoken clearly through Isaiah, you created us and are redeeming us, all for your glory. You summoned us by name, calling us to life in the gospel. You gave us a new name-"Mine." There's no sweeter, more perspective-giving or more peace-generating name you could call us. You never promised we wouldn't experience floods and torrents, fires and flames. But you have promised to be with us. To know your great affection for us and your absolute sovereignty over everything is enough, Father

Indeed, we know ourselves to be precious, honored, and greatly loved, because you gave Jesus in exchange for us.

Though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty we might become rich (2 Cor. 8:9).

We praise you for the indescribable gift of the gospel.

And since you didn't spare your own Son, certainly we can trust you to graciously give us everything else we need (Rom. 8:32)—in current storms and future fires. We don't have to be afraid of anything or anyone. You are with us and you are for us.

We pray in Jesus' great and grace-full name.

a Prayer to become a Friend of God

Are you there God? Can you hear me?

I am in need of a friend. I am in need of you.

I offer you my friendship. Can you hear me?

I am confused and in need of clarity in my life.

I am looking for a sign and direction for my life.

Help me to be more open and more aware.

I offer myself, and my trust, to you.

Please make yourself real to me. Reveal yourself to me.

Open my inner eyes that I might see clearly.

I offer you my friendship. I will listen for your still small voice.

I will wait in faith, and be patient as I listen.

Dear God,

In these days of hurt feelings, I choose to forgive.

When people are unkind and hateful, I choose to forgive.

As I feel frustrated and weary, I choose to forgive.

Help me Lord to let go of the hurts and pain.

Cause me to be kind when I am exhausted by life.

Bless me that I might bless when I am offended.

A prayer for those struggling in life

I ask your prayers for all who face conflict;

for those for whom life is an endless struggle;

for those who are uncertain where their next meal will come from,

or if it will come at all;

for those for whom life seems dark and empty

and for all who are hungry in our greedy, selfish world;

for those sent away from the rich nation’s table empty-handed

although there is enough for all.

The Lord hears our prayer.

I ask your prayers for all who face conflict;

for those who are persecuted

and all who are tortured and imprisoned for their faith in Christ.

I ask your prayers for all who are neglected, ignored,

or made to feel as if they do not count.

I ask your prayers for those who, for the sake of others,

stand against injustice, corruption, and evil

and do so at great cost to themselves.

LORD, today I pray for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones.

Bestow PEACE upon their hearts. Bring COMFORT to their wounded spirits. Bring a beautiful sense of Your Presence to their souls.

Enable them to draw close to You and feel sweet MERCY and GRACE wrap around them tightly…

Help them to see the HOPE of eternal life and a beautiful reunion one day in GLORY.

Father of all patience and hope,

Help me to shut out the distractions in my mind.

Act of Approach

BENIGN LORD,

I praise thee continually for permission

to approach thy throne of grace,

and to spread my wants and desires

before thee.

I am not worthy of thy blessings and mercies

for I am far gone from original righteousness;

My depraved nature reveals itself in disobedience

and rebellion;

My early days discovered in me discontent, pride, envy, revenge.

Remember not the sins of my youth,

nor the multiplied transgressions of later years,

my abuse of mercies and means,

my perverted seasons of grace,

Through him may I return to thee,

listen to thee,

trust in thee,

delight in thy law,

obey thee,

be upheld by thee.

Preserve my understanding from error,

my affections from love of idols,

my lips from speaking guile,

my conduct from stain of vice,

my character from appearance of evil,

that I may be harmless, blameless, rebukeless,

exemplary, useful, light-giving, prudent, zealous for thy glory

and the good of my fellow-men.

Dearest Father,

My heart is to follow you, and the example of your son, in all I do.

I am dedicated to you and your mission to love the world.

Lead me and help me to discern the way of your spirit.

Transform me that I might find guidance from within.

Teach me that I might interpret life events in helpful ways.

Beyond the black and white areas, help me to see you in the gray.

I place my trust in you and cede control to your spirit's influence.

Fill me afresh Holy Spirit and make me as a moldable child.

Bath me in the ocean of your loving care that I might learn of you.

In all my ways, mold me into the person you want me to be.
