answer us

Answer us when we call,

O God...

you set us free when we are hard-pressed;

have mercy on us and hear our prayers.

Open our lips and

our mouths shall praise:

Glory to you

for the radiance of your holy Name;

we will praise you

and highly exalt you for ever.

In the tender compassion of our God,

the dawn from on high shall break upon us, 

To shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
