A collage of verses that show God’s creation, care, and concern for the creatures that brought vitality and variety to his earth.
Genesis 1:25 (NLT)
“God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.”
“God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.”
Psalm 50:11 (NLT)

“I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine.”
Psalm 147:9 (NLT)
“He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry.”
“He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry.”
Matthew 10:29 (NLT)
“....not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.”
“....not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.”
Luke 12:6 (NLT)
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them.”
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them.”
Father, one of the reasons we were created in your
likeness was to show the same care for the animals, fowl, fish and other
creatures as you. Adam was given the unique privilege of naming the creatures
that came from your infinite imagination. That would have been fun and
fascinating to watch.
Genesis 2:19-20 (NIV)
“ 19 Now the LORD God had formed
out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He
brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man
called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave
names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the
field.”
Father, you remind us in Proverbs 12:10 (NIV) “A righteous man cares for the needs of his
animal….”
Evidently then, Father, we show our likeness to
you not only in the way we treat other people but also how we treat the animals
in our care. I confess Father that at times we have failed miserably and
brutality. This surely demonstrates the second half of Proverbs 12:10 (NIV) “….but
the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”
Father, in regard to the care of your creatures
the human race has much to repent of and now would be a good time to start.
Father, help us to be more like you.
In Jesus name
Amen
