Dear Lord ~ As we enter the month of November, the month of Thanksgiving help us to count our blessings, and look for those less fortunate and be loving, caring and generous. We thank you for Your love, protection, salvation, generosity and want to demonstrate each of those to those around us. Make this a month of selflessness and show us opportunities to do what Jesus would do. We love You. Amen.

One Nation Under God

Psalm 33:12 (NLT)
What joy for the nation whose God is the LORD, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.

Father I love to see the American flag displayed at our various sporting events, especially as it reminds me of your providential care for our nation over the years. George Washington, American General and first president of the United States said:

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God... I do recommend...rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks, for...the favorable interpositions of His Providence...we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war...for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government.”

Thank you God, for your providential care, and the flag that reminds me of your faithfulness to that truth every time I see it. In the name of your Son and my Savior Jesus.

When I Feel Weak and Uninspired

Dear Lord Jesus,

There are days when I feel weak and uninspired
and days when I am full of the life You have given me.

Help me remember from where my strength comes.

Please give me wisdom and grant me good health
and spiritual strength to continue the path You would have me walk.

You are the foundational root of nourishment in my life.

I want to remain steadfast and tapped into your power as I face whatever may come.

Thank you for loving me, saving me, carrying me, and giving me hope.

REST AND RELAXATION FOR A RENEWED VISION

Dear Lord, You give us times of rest and relaxation. Time to reflect on Your love and mission. We appreciate those times, and with that rest and refreshment comes a new energy and vision to bring honor to Your Name, and share the joy of salvation with others. Lord, help my dearest and me to share Your love and kindness here at the Villa. We love You. Amen.

There is Nothing Too Hard for God

Father, we have been praying for baby Stephanie, three months old, without an immune system and needing a bone marrow transplant. Her life is in grave jeopardy facing many months in the hospital. But her condition is not too hard for You to remedy and you have in miraculous and marvelous ways. She is gaining weight and health and we learned today that they have found a bone marrow donor for her.

Once again you have proven your faithfulness, demonstrated your power and given hope and grace to this beautiful baby girl and her family. You are the LORD, the God of all mankind and there is absolutely nothing too hard for you.

We join the family in praising and glorifying your Name!

New Beginnings

There are times in our lives when it seems God has us start over again. The church I was part of for a number of years recently closed its doors. I feel like in many ways I am starting things over again. And this is a good thing.

Father,

I thank you that You are a God of new beginnings and second chances. Help us trust You when we find ourselves forging ahead into unknown territory. And help us to remember You have already been there before us.

Father, in a world that tells us that we are worthless unless we have certain things, eat certain things, or believe certain things, help us to find our identity in Christ. Because of his finished work we are your beloved children and co-heirs with Christ. Help us to seek you and put our hope in you, rather than the paltry things of this world. Let us walk with a confidence that we are loved. Free us to love others as you love us. Amen

Prayer of Trust

Again, I thank You, Father in heaven, for the blessings and graces You have give me this day. Once more I entreat Your continuing protection. Conscious of my own weakness and frailty, of my many faults, I entrust myself to Your loving care.

I entrust to Your protection, loving Father, those dear to me, my relatives, friends, and all those around me. Be pleased, Eternal Father, to keep in Your care Your Church and all who serve You. Please assist also all civil officials to exercise authority justly, and to direct all our people according to Your will.

In Your loving and tender mercy, Lord and Father, assist especially those who are poor and deprived, those who suffer, and all who are without hope in this life unless You come to their aid. It is You alone Who can bring great good out of the worst evils by Your unbounded power. So we trust You to curb the malice of the wicked, to transform the lost, and bring us all to a knowledge of Your love.

These favors we ask in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who reigns forever with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, through all ages. Amen.

The Road Home

Isaiah 30:21 (NLT)
Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.

Father as we travel the road home, sometimes we get lost along the way, yet we have your presence and peace as you whisper: “This is the way.” Thank you for the comfort and assurance of your guidance through the many turns, detours, and construction bypasses we come to. We go through valleys, mountains, deserts, plains, forests and wilderness, but never without the knowledge of your concern and care.

The road home is sometimes a beautiful road strewn with flowers and flowing streams. Other times it becomes dark with foreboding clouds and distant flashes of lightening and the rumble of thunder. But, still it is the road home to family, friends, and life in a familiar place. Thank you Father for the joy of journey, family and precious friends seen along the way and for the road home that leads to a place of rest and meaningful reflections of special memories.

In the Name of your beloved Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

O God, we thank you for the lives of great saints and prophets in the past,
who have revealed to us that we can stand up amid the problems and
difficulties and trials of life and not give in.

We thank you for our foreparents, who've given us something in the midst of the
darkness of exploitation and oppression to keep going.

Grant that we will go on with the proper faith and the proper determination of will,

Father,

I pray for Your people, that we may reconsider the things we divide over. I realize not all division is wrong or all differences can be ignored. But many of the things that we divide over seem superficial and petty. Help us to see beyond our factions and see the width and breadth of your church.

Father, we lift up the folks in South Carolina who have been devastated by the historic flooding in that state. Some hve lost loved ones, others have been injured. Many have lost homes and businesses. We pray that you would comfort them and let them know your presence. Thank you for the outpouring of support that has come from so many. Amen

Singing I Go

Romans 15:9 (NLT)
He also came so that the Gentiles might give glory to God for his mercies to them. That is what the psalmist meant when he wrote: “For this, I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing praises to your name.”

Father you know as do those who have heard me sing that I don’t do that very well. But I am so glad for the Scripture that says: “Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! Psalm 95:2 (ESV)

So, thank you Father that you have given me a song to sing of your mercy through which all of your blessings come. Thank you that in Jesus I have a life to live and a story to share of your love, mercy and grace. Now I can say with the Psalmist: “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Psalm 100:1-2 (ESV)

Your Will Be Done

Matthew 6:10 (NIV)
”Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Father as I observe the earth’s landscape today, littered with the violence and injustice of human evil and malice, I wonder at the reality of this prayer. Your will seems to be the farthest thing from people’s thoughts and intentions. If anything it reminds me of Genesis 6:5 (NLT) “The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.”

And yet if there is anything we should pray for Father, it is Your will. Because in and through Your will we receive the love, mercy and grace without which we could never live and have a meaningful life. So we pray for Your will on earth to be done as it is in heaven. Your will to lighten men’s ways, Your will to awaken the human heart to hope and peace, Your will to initiate a renewed value and dignity of every life as Pope Francis said “at every stage”.

Father we pray for Your will to be done so that forgiveness will be the rule of relationships, love will be the motivation of every action, and truth will be the content of every life. We pray even as Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, “….. your will be done.” Matthew 26:42 Out of that darkness and violence against Your Son came the salvation for all who will believe. So today Father, out of the darkness of human sin can shine the gospel of Christ. Isaiah prophesied: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.“

Isaiah 9:2 (NLT)

Indeed Father, may Your will be done, then “… those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.“ Yes Father, the light of Your will.
