God’s Wildlife Park

A collage of verses that show God’s creation, care, and concern for the creatures that brought vitality and variety to his earth.

Genesis 1:25 (NLT)
“God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.”

Psalm 50:11 (NLT)
I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine.”

Psalm 147:9 (NLT)
He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry.”

Matthew 10:29 (NLT)
“....not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.”

Luke 12:6 (NLT)
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them.”

Father, one of the reasons we were created in your likeness was to show the same care for the animals, fowl, fish and other creatures as you. Adam was given the unique privilege of naming the creatures that came from your infinite imagination. That would have been fun and fascinating to watch.

Genesis 2:19-20 (NIV)
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.”

Father, you remind us in Proverbs 12:10 (NIV)A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal….”

Evidently then, Father, we show our likeness to you not only in the way we treat other people but also how we treat the animals in our care. I confess Father that at times we have failed miserably and brutality. This surely demonstrates the second half of Proverbs 12:10 (NIV) “….but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”

Father, in regard to the care of your creatures the human race has much to repent of and now would be a good time to start. Father, help us to be more like you.

In Jesus name

Pray to your Father secretly

When you pray, go away by yourself, all alone, and shut the door behind you and pray to your Father secretly, and your Father, who knows your secrets, will reward you. -Matthew 6:5-6 TLB

Much of life is done secretly. Our unvoiced thoughts. Things done when no one is around. Cries of our hearts offered to the One who knows our secrets. In truth prayer is so much more than the words we utter out loud. In a very real sense it is an inner (and secret) expression of our love and worship of the One who speaks to us in the secret places.

So today I offer a challenge to anyone reading here. Find moments to pray in secret. Be aware of secret places. Pray in your car. Offer praises in the shower. Cherish your moments of solitude. Be still and know that the Holy Spirit is with you when you feel alone. Cry out to God in your still moments. In dark times invite his light. And offer thanks to God.

Grant us grace Lord that we might make time to go away. To be all alone. To shut the door to all and open a door to you.

Amen

Christ Triumphant

Father,

I thank You that Christ has triumphed and will triumph over the powers of evil and the powers of darkness in this world.  It is easy for us to be discouraged by all the bad things going on around us. Help us to trust You when things look bad. And help us to follow Your principles and stand for Your truth and work Your will in  a world that commonly rejects it. And help us to reach out to do what we can to help those who are victims of this evil.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

Abba, Father

When we live in a spirit of slavery and fear, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
When we live by the power of death, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
When your church has lost its way, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
When we’ve forgotten your truth, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
When we model ourselves after the world, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
Where men and women and children are for sale we cry, “Abba, Father!”
When human life is cheap we cry, “Abba, Father!”
Where people are desperate and violent, we cry,  “Abba, Father!”
Where we see with eyes of mistrust and hate, we cry,  “Abba, Father!”
Where families are torn apart, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
Where cities are in distress, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
Where those in power abuse the needy, we cry,  “Abba, Father!”
Where food is withheld from the hungry, we cry,  “Abba, Father!”
Where we have destroyed the beauty of your creation, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
In every way we are small, afraid, broken, alone, and desperate, we cry, “Abba, Father!”
Let your Spirit testify to our spirits that we are your children.
Amen

A PRAYER FOR OTHERS

I would pray, O Lord, not only for myself but for all the household to which I belong, for all my friends and all my fellow workers, beseeching Thee to include them all in Thy fatherly regard.  I pray also ~~

for all who will today be faced by any great decision
for all who will today be engaged in settling affairs of moment
in the lives of men and nations.
for all who are moulding public opinion in our time.
for all who write what other people read;
for all who are holding aloft the lamp of truth
in a world of ignorance and sin.
for all whose hands are worn from too much toil,
and for the unemployed whose hands today fall idle;
for those who have not where to lay their head.

O Christ my Lord, who for my sake and my brethren's didst forgo all earthly comfort and fullness, forbid it that I should ever live unto myself.  Amen

Benecidtion

2 John 1:3 (NLT)
Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the Son of the Father—will continue to be with us who live in truth and love.”

Father in this verse you give us the source, substance and standard of your benediction on our life. You are the source. Grace, mercy and peace are the substance. Love and truth are the standard. It is when we live in your love and live out your truth that your benediction rests on us.

So Father, may we be mindful of what the Apostle John wrote:  “…let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. 19 Our actions will show that we belong to the truth…” 1 John 3:18-19 (NLT) Then Father your blessings will overflow in our lives and bring benediction to others.

We thank you Father for all you give us through your Son, Jesus.

Amen

A Short Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,
I don't fall on my face before you near as often as I need to, but I am here today begging for wisdom. You know my heart, You know the situation. Your love is never ending and You know the beginning from the end. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my heart's cry even when I don't know how to form the words.
Amen

And He shall hear my voice.

Our Sufficiency

Father, help us to remember that our sufficiency is only in Christ. Let us not put our trust in any thing or person but you. Help us to find our identity in our adoption as your children and not in anything else. May Jesus be our all-in-all. Amen

FOR SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful.  I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is the sum of them.  Were I to count them they would out number the grains of sand.  When I awake I am still with You."   (Psalm 139:14-18)

Oh Father, with the heartbreaking news this week that there are those who would not only disregard human life through abortions, but cold heartedly talk about selling body parts of a little baby.    Oh God, help these in our Country that has no regard for You or these precious little ones.  Convict their hearts, turn their calloused minds to seek You.  How Your heart must grieve that so many have turned from the plan you had for man.   Have mercy on all of us.  Amen

Pilgrim Prayer

Father,

Help Your people to live in the light of eternity. Help us remember that we are pilgrims and sojourners here and this is not our ultimate home. But also help us to bring the light of that eternity to bear on the problems and needs of the people around us. Let us reach out to meet those needs. Help us to find the right balance of reaching out to the present world without simply being conformed to it. And help us to live for eternity without distancing ourselves from those who need our help around us.

Amen

Refuge

Psalm 5:11-12 (NLT)
11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. 12 For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love.

Father, in view of the violence that we witness, there are three words in this passage that draw my attention: refuge, protection, and shield. We see so many victims and so little justice. I am reminded of what Jesus said: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 (NLT)

Father I pray for those suffering that they will find refuge in your strength, protection in your power and the shield of love in your compassion. Though at times we are dismayed and disquieted by the trials we face, we take to heart your word to Paul: “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) Therefore Father “We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 3:4 (NLT)

Father, help us to remember Psalm 91:14 (NLT)
The LORD says, “…. I will protect those who trust in my name.

Amen

Inflame our hearts with your love!

O love eternal,
my soul needs and chooses you eternally!

Ah, come Holy Spirit,
and inflame our hearts with your love!

To love - or to die!
To die - and to love!
To die to all other love
in order to live in Jesus' love,
so that we may not die eternally.
But that we may live in your eternal love,

O Saviour of our souls,
we eternally sing,
"Live, Jesus!
Jesus, I love!
Live, Jesus, whom I love!
Jesus, I love,
Jesus who lives and reigns
forever and ever.

Amen

For Good Things

Sometimes we Christians can lose track of the many good things God has given us as part of His creation. We can think of nothing but avoiding over-indulgence or the wrong kind of indulgence. We can see God as some sort of cosmic killjoy who only wants to make us miserable. And this is not the case. Yes, we live in a fallen world where there is suffering and evil. But we need to keep that in perspective.

Father,

Thank You for the many good things You shower on us daily as part of Your creation. Help us to be grateful for the many innocent pleasures You have given us to enjoy. Help us to avoid misusing or abusing the things You have created. But also to enjoy them in appropriate ways in thanksgiving to You.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen

Prayer For an Uncertain Future

Father, we face a great deal of uncertainty as your children. Help us to focus on the mission you have given us. Let us be agents of reconciliation and grace to a world in which they are sorely lacking. Help us to trust that you love us and that you are in control. Amen

MORNING PRAYER

Dear Father, take this day's life into Thine own keeping.  Control all my thoughts and feelings.  Direct all my energies.  Instruct my mind.  Sustain my will.

Take my hands and make them skillful to serve Thee.  Take my feet and make them swift to do Thy bidding.  Take my eyes and keep them fixed upon Thine everlasting beauty.  Take my mouth and make it eloquent in testimony to Thy love.

Make this day a day of obedience, a day of spiritual joy and peace.  Make this day's work a little part of the work of the Kingdom of my Lord Christ, in whose name these my prayers are said.  Amen.

Godly Perspective

Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, and self-control.

Thank you Father that through Your Spirit You have given us the knowledge, ability and strength to control ourselves in difficult situations. When we are tempted to do otherwise we can say with the Apostle Paul: I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

Thank you Father for the peace and joy that comes from a godly perspective.

All who had need

...and He received them and spoke to them
about the kingdom of God,
and healed those who had need of healing."
Luke 9:11

Oh, my friends, do you have need of healing?? If so, look at God's Word! Our Christ healed all who had a need! Never in the precious scriptures can you find a place that our LORD didn't heal someone who came forth in faith seeking to be healed. All our God desires of us is to come before Him believing. Trusting. Desiring. Seeking. According to His will, He will dispense healing to thine who believe that He can!

Dig deep into His Word and beging uncovering sweet treasures that will enlighten and encourage our hearts. We serve a mighty and powerful and loving God and He is our healer! Jehovah Rophe....

For Right Patriotism

Father,

Help your people to love their country the way it should be loved. Not as some icon of perfection, but as a real, imperfect land that is our own. Help us to work to improve it, not denigrate it, even when it does things we may not agree with. May we work to bring it more in line with what You want it to be. And if the time comes when we must serve God rather man, let us do so in a firm but loving fashion.

True Freedom

True Freedom originated with God, is revealed in Holy Scripture, incarnated in Christ, expressed in through Church, shared with the world, and enjoyed by all people and nations who embrace its values and honor its traditions. True freedom always implies responsibility which responds to the higher authority, God.

Genesis 2:16-17 (NLT)
But the LORD God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—17  except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

Galatians 5:13 (NLT)
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Father help us to express our gratitude for your gift of freedom by living in a way that honors you, demonstrates respect for all people, and values the sacrifice of Christ that makes freedom possible: “ So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36 (NLT)

A prayer for peace in our communities ...

Gracious God,

We pray for peace in our communities this day.

We commit to you all who work for peace and an end to tensions,
And those who work to uphold law and justice.

We pray for an end to fear,
For comfort and support to those who suffer.

For calm in our streets and cities,
That people may go about their lives in safety and peace.

In your mercy, hear our prayers, now and always.
