HE LISTENS

Psalm 116:1,2  "I LOVE the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications.  Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live."

Heavenly Father, to know you are inclining you ear to ME!  That you hear my every supplication, and know the deepest secrets of my heart, and love me with unconditional love compels me to love You, and call out to You and know you bend low to hear my cries.  Lord I will love and praise you as long as I live.   I love You.   Amen.

Faith Living

“….I live by faith in the Son of God,

who loved me  and gave Himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20 (HCSB)

Elisabeth Elliot : " If you dwell on your own feelings about things rather than dwelling on the faithfulness, the love, and the mercy of God, then you're likely to have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Our feelings are very fleeting and ephemeral, aren't they? We can't depend on them for five minutes at a time. But dwelling on the love, faithfulness, and mercy of God is always safe."

Father we are too often inclined to live by sight, by emotions, by logic, by hearing and by the varied influences of the human sensatory system. Not that we shouldn’t  listen or learn from them, but not for them to direct our lives. You have specifically commanded us: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; 6 think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.”  Proverbs 3:5-6 (HCSB)

Father your purpose and plan for our lives is perfect. Therefore relying on Your Will, Your Word, and the Holy Spirit, through faith, will result in the guidance and assurance we desire and the safety that brings peace to our soul. Thank You,  that:“……whoever trusts in the LORD is safe.”  Proverbs 29:25 (ESV)

Amen.

we can cry out

I am so thankful that God hears my prayers.

If we are in Christ, we all have that blessed assurance that He hears us! He listens to our petitions! He cares about the things that are weighing us down, creating burdens in our hearts, and causing us pain and anguish.

God hears us!

If you are in a state of despair today, fall on your knees and cry out to the ONE who hears and responds to our voices.

Call out His Name today and be set free with the peace that only He can bring.

Amen

a prayer of assurance

Lord God,

There are a lot of voices out there right now, screaming at us and telling us false truths about ourselves. Some come from inside ourselves, some come from close friends, and some come from celebrity, media, and the broader Christian world. As much as we'd like the voices to always speak truth, they don't. And it's exhausting.

Still the beat of our anxious hearts, Father, especially when we don't know what voices speak truth. Especially when those voices has us doubting something that is contrary to Scripture... especially when those words do not lift up, convict, encourage, or point us to You.

Gives us discernment to know what voices to tune out, the fortitude to test all voices against the truth of Scripture, and the peace to sit with You and listen to the truth of how You see us.

Help us understand that
  • You are with us (Psalm 46)
  • You are for us (Psalm 56:9)
  • You delight in us (Zephaniah 3:17)
  • You watch over us (Psalm 121:5-8)

Assure us that we
  • are loved by You (1 John 4:9-11)
  • belong to You (Colossians 1:16)
  • are renewed (Ephesians 4:23)
  • are included (Ephesians 1:13-14)
  • are Your children (Galatians 3:26)

Grant, O merciful God, that your Church,
being gathered together in unity by your Holy Spirit,
may show forth your power among all peoples,

to the glory of your Name;

through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God,

for ever and ever.

Amen

REMEMBER THE WORDS

Jude 1:17-24 'But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts."  These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly minded, devoid of the Spirit.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
And have mercy on some that are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garments polluted by the flesh.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

Holy Father, we are living in times of mockers, and worldly minded people devoid of the Spirit.  So many in our nation are in this category, Lord.  We are burdened for those who will not follow Your Word, and shake their fists at You in rebellion.  But Lord, You Word tells us to have mercy on the doubting, to save others who will listen, snatching them as it were "out of the fire".  Your mercy, Your grace, Your salvation is available and you are long suffering, wanting no one to perish.   May our hearts burn within us as we trust You to keep us from stumbling and to stand in Your presence some day blameless and with great joy!  I love You.  Amen.

A Good Day for the Kingdom

1 Peter 1:13-17 (NLT)
13 So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” 17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time as “foreigners in the land.”

Father, you remind us through your Word that you have called us to think clearly, be self-controlled, live obediently, and honor you with reverent behavior because you have called us to be holy. You expect our redemption to be expressed in true Christian living, and rightly so.

We thank you Father that not only have you called us, you also enable us by your Spirit and through your grace and mercy to be want you want us to be. This too is our desire: to honor you, please you, glorify you and be the light of truth and hope in a world of darkness, despair and disillusionment.

We pray, Father, that this day will be a good for your Kingdom when your glory will fill the earth through the lives of your loving, obedient children.

We ask this in the Name of Your beloved Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Stream of Prayer

THOUGHTS ON PRAYER:

The stream of PRAYER cannot rise higher than the fountain of living. (E.M. Bounds)

PRAYING must come out of clean heart. It must be strengthened by a life striving with all its might to please and obey God.

The FRUIT of authentic prayer is right living.

PRAYER produces CLEANLINESS of heart and PURITY of life.

We must spend MUCH time on our faces in PRAYER. Real, fervent, authentic, and effectual PRAYER.

Bounds says, “Praying and sinning cannot keep company with each other.”

It’s time for us to step up our prayer lives and begin to see the beautiful fruit of righteousness pour forth from within...

“I call on you, God, because you will answer me...” (Psalm 17:6) CSB

a prayer for educators and students for new school year

Father,

This year's school year will be different. A lot different. It doesn’t look like we thought it would look, nor will tomorrow and the days to come likely be executed in the way we expected and prepared for. Help us to see the good in each day. Help us to find reasons to rejoice and ways to be glad. We are created in Your image, God, to do good and great things to bring glory to Your name. Each one of us, were created with specific purpose. And right now, especially for teachers, this purpose feel very hard.

Help teachers to have confidence in their call and their skill. They were meant to teach, educate, coach, counsel and lead. They are needed, appreciated, and loved. Their work and their efforts are never in vain. When it is hard to see the good, grab their attention, Father. Sustain them through our very real fear of what is and will happen in our world, God. Remind them we are not alone, even when they feel isolated.

For the boards of education, principals and staff of our schools, we pray blessing over their lives and their livelihood. May the leaders of our schools be blessed with wisdom and energized to inspire their staff in this difficult time. May the needs of students be seen, and God we pray Your provision to meet those needs. Bless our school secretaries, to find a place to serve and work in this new and unique situation. We pray for the channels of communication to remain open among the staff of our school systems. Keep them connected, socially, and working together for the greater good of each student.

Thank You, Father, for technology allowing many students to continue their educations online. For virtual classrooms and technological resources. Thank You for every teacher and educator adjusting to the needs of ALL their students. Comfort them as they miss interacting with their students in person. Equip them with energy and inspiration to come alongside their students in this challenging time of crisis. Protect their health, Father, both physically and mentally. Encourage them to use their gifts and talents to find new ways to reach students.

Amen

GOD'S WORD MADE PERSONAL

"I prayed for faith and thought that some day faith would come down and strike me light lightning.  But faith did not seem to come.  One day I read in the 10th chapter of Romans, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.  I had up to this time closed my Bible and prayed for faith.  I now open my Bible and began to study, and faith has been growing ever since."  Dwight L. Moody (1837-1899)

Oh, gracious Father, how easy it is to pray for things and never see what the Word of God has to say about it.  We can know your mind, we can understand your will if we just open your Word and study it for ourselves.  It's you way of talking to us.   We all want to hear your voice, and we can through the Holy Scriptures.  May we be students of Your Word like D.L. Moody and read and study and pray and see YOU work in our lives so that it can bring glory to your Precious Name.  I love You.  Amen

The Comfort that God Knows

Exodus 2:23-25 (NLT)

23  Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. 24 God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 25 He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.

Father as I think about life and the various experiences we all encounter on a daily basis, I am so glad that you hear our prayers, remember your promises, see our needs, know our concerns and understand when it is the appropriate time to intervene. Therefore Father, help us to remember the encouragement of Lamentations 3:25-26 (HCSB) 25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. 26 It is good to wait quietly for deliverance from the LORD.”

Thank you for such personal and compassionate care. In the Name of your beloved Son our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
