a prayer for the unknown

Father,

I do not understand
the why sometimes

the things of hurt
pain
sorrow

I welcome the
joyful and content surety
of understanding

Father,
please plunge
deep into the recesses
of my heart

help me
see
love
obey

help me
understand

teach me to know
my number
of days

that i may be wise
to use them
for Your glory

O Lord - but more!
help me trust in what You
know
and not to trust
in only what i do

though you slay me
I will trust in You

Amen

I will bewail, approve;
And all my sour-sweet days
I will lament and love."  -George Herbert

HE KNOWS MY NAME

John 20:16  Jesus said to her, "Mary."

Dear risen Christ, through Your death, sin has been vanquished and death itself has been defeated.  Reigning King, You have been exalted to the highest places and have been given the name above all names.  Every soul in all creation shall bow before You.  Yet You are not only the Savior of the world, You are also my personal Savior.  You call my name (Wanda).  You know me through and through.  Nothing about me is hidden from You.  What a privilege to acknowledge You as God Almighty and to walk with You as my Savior and my friend.  You know my name!  I love You.  Amen.

I have a Maker
He Formed My Heart
Before even time began
My life was in hands
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
He hears me when I call

I have a father
He calls me his own

No One Like Our God

1 John 4:8 (ESV)
      …….. God is love.

Luke 18:19 (NLT)
19   “Only God is truly good.

John 3:33 (ESV)
   ……… God is true.

Psalm 99:9 (ESV)
   ………. God is holy!

Father as I meditate on these verses, they tell me everything I need to know about You. You are love tells me about Your heart. You are good tells me about Your character. You are true tells me about Your integrity. You are holy tells me about Your nature. In your love you accept me, in your goodness you forgive me, in your truth you protect me and in your holiness you justify me.

How can I not say with the Psalmist: “My whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD? ….."   Psalm 35:10 (NIV)

Thank you Father that you have made yourself know to me not only in your creation and in your Word, but especially and particularly through your Son. Through faith in Him, Jesus, I truly and personally know You. To meditate on this is not only inspiring, it is life transforming.

Amen

God's Love

Father,
Our prayer is that we will have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep God's love is. May we experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then we will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (From Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT)

As we sojourn here on this earth, may we abide in You realizing our citizenship is in Heaven and looking beyond the things of this earth to the treasures of Heaven. Thank You that we can enter in and come boldly before You to present our requests today … for strength, wisdom, provision, protection and that we might always be growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. We give You thanks for this awesome privilege and praise the Name of Jesus.

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair, bowed down with care
God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled
And pardoned from his sin

Could we with ink the ocean fil
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade

To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure

The saints' and angels' song.

a prayer to the fountain of all wisdom

Almighty God,
the fountain of all wisdom,

you know our necessities before we ask
and our ignorance in asking:

Have compassion on our weakness,
and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not,
and for our blindness we cannot ask;

through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

never invade again!

We all go through seasons of darkness in our lives. We all have seen our loved ones go through these same deep, dark times of full-on enemy oppression.

I don't know about you, but I am sick of it. I am so tired of the enemy waging war against those I love. I am so tired of satan sticking his nose in where he absolutely does NOT belong. I am sick to death of the devil!

I came across this scripture a few weeks ago and I am claiming this loud and clear for my loved ones! I am trusting and believing that God will be completely victorious over every area of their life. I am holding tight to the beautiful Word of God and I am placing my full confidence in the One who can defeat and destroy every evil that abounds in this world.

I am seeing the fruit of those prayers. I am seeing the peace of God begin to rule once again in their life. I am seeing God do what only He can do.

Does anyone else need this? Cling to this scripture. Read it and memorize it. Shout it out loud! Pray it over your precious loved ones. Believe it to the depths of your heart. And then begin to thank God for what He is going to do and for the Victory that is sure to come!!

a prayer for the weary

Heavenly Father,

We lift up your Name today. You are the Lord of lords, the Most High God. You are the God of Peace, our Shepherd, and the God who provides. May your Name be exalted.

We also know that you are the God of power and strength. And we sometimes struggle to feel your power and strength. Our hearts are broken, our bodies weary, and souls hurt. We struggle to find hope in the world without it. We struggle to find strength within ourselves.

But we know, O God, that you are the one who gives us strength. When we are weary, you provide. When we look to the world for hope, it will fail us. Yet we can always find hope in you.

We praise your Name, Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides. Please give us strength for
our weary souls.

Prayer for the Caregivers

Father, please bless those who are taking care of the elderly, the disabled, and all those who cannot take care of themselves. Give them strength and grace. Provide encouragement, and give them times for them to care for themselves. Keep them compassionate and gracious toward those in their care. Let them show the love of Jesus. Amen

RELENTLESS LOVE

Proverbs 3:11-12  "My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in."

Father, how You cherish Your children!  Your love is relentless and undeserved.  Even Your discipline is motivated by compassion.  Teach me to accept Your correction with humble gratitude. I do not ask You to withhold Your discipline, I only ask that You grant me the wisdom and humility to learn the lesson quickly.  I love You.  Amen.

I praise Thee Lord,
For cleansing me from sin.
Fulfill Thy Word,
And make me pure within.
Fill me with fire,
Where once I burned with shame.
Grant my desire
To magnify Thy Name.

Promises Kept

Isaiah 41:10 (HCSB)
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.

Father the power of your promise is your presence with us. The peace of your promise is your relationship with us. The protection your promise is your willing intervention in our lives. The reliability of your promise is as trustworthy today as it was when first given. “….Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. 3 For I am the LORD your God………” Isaiah 43:1-3 (ESV)

Thank you Father for loving us, for being faithful to your promises to us and for the relationship we have with you as our God and Father. We praise you in Jesus name. Amen!

As We Wait

They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. -Isaiah 40:31 ESV

As we wait Lord help us to remember that …

… You are the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
… You do not faint or grow weary.
… Your understanding is unsearchable.
… You give power to the faint and increase their strength.

And help us Lord to …

… Know that peace often comes as we are still before you.
… Develop patience with our situation and those around us.
… Give thanks for all you are and who you have made us to be.
… Trust you with all of our hearts and not lean on our own understanding.

a prayer for seeing

Lord God,

We come before you today humbled and grateful to be in your presence. In your faithfulness, Lord, we know that you are a God who sees. You are a God who hears. You are a God who knows all the inner workings of our hearts.

But our hearts are broken. And not always broken for the right things. Our hearts want things, O God, and they most often want the wrong things. So in our heart's brokenness, we ask for clarity and strength. Strength to resist the temptation to want the wrong things. And clarity to know which things our hearts should be broken for. Help us to see the world with your eyes and your heart, broken over the sin and pain in this world.

We thank you for the compassion and mercy. Help us give that compassion and mercy to others, too.

Amen

DAVID'S PRAYER OF PRAISE

Image result for clip art King David Dancing

In the Book of I Chronicles David is returning the Ark of God back to the city of David.  There was rejoicing, laughter, dancing and music as the Ark of the Covenant was returned.  Part of that celebration is as follows and is my prayer for today.

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness
Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him, yes, sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Exult in his holy name.
Rejoice, you who worship the Lord.

Search for the Lord and his strength;
Continually seek him.
Remember the wonders he has performed,
His miracles, and the rulings
he has given.

Would you join me in the freedom we have in Christ to rejoice, to laugh, to dance and to sing of his great goodness.  At this joyous celebration there was also gifts from King David.  Each person was given a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins.

Lord, let our rejoicing be in the singing, dancing, laughing, loving and giving gifts in Your Holy Name for what you have done for us.  I love You.  Amen.

The Sustaining Power of Peace

Philippians 4:6-7 (HCSB)
6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Father in stressful times when so much may seem uncertain I thank you for the peace you make available to us. Your peace is stronger than our fears, greater than our finite understanding, more enduring than our feeble defenses and reassuring beyond our imagination.

You guard our hearts and minds with the security of your wisdom and the power of your love. You say to us “fear not” and so we will not fear because of our simple trust in Your Word. Your promise of peace and protection is more comforting than anything that may assail our faith. How true the Scripture is: “ You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”  Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

Thank you Father, that through Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, we can relax and experience your peace that passes all understanding and gives such a sustaining comfort to our souls.

Amen.

they serve with love

I love being a missionary.

My husband and I just returned from a month in the Philippines and my heart is still so stirred and so full over our time there.

There is so much I could speak about here but today my prayer is for the pastors and the people that minister in that country. Their mission field is hard. Their mission field is not comfortable. They travel hours on foot in the hot and intense sun of the mountains just to go to their outreaches to minister to the people.

We went to several of these outreaches during our time there and the experience gives me such a grateful heart for the commitment and the love that these precious people have for our LORD and for His service.

Keep them in your prayers as they do the work of God no matter what the difficulty. No matter what the obstacles. No mater what.....

Lord, we are so thankful for the work of the people in the Philippines. They serve with pure hearts. They serve with dedication. They serve with unwavering faith and commitment to you.

They serve simply because they are called.

They never complain although the work is hard.

Father, grant them strength to keep going. Energy to complete the task. Endurance to finish the race strong. Bring them comfort and peace and continue to be their Provision always.

The Deeps

The Deeps

Lord Jesus, give me a deeper repentance, a horror of sin, a dread of its approach. Help me chastely to flee it and jealously to resolve that my heart shall be Thine alone.

Give me a deeper trust, that I may lose myself to find myself in Thee, the ground of my rest, the spring of my being. Give me a deeper knowledge of Thyself as saviour, master, lord, and king. Give me deeper power in private prayer, more sweetness in Thy Word, more steadfast grip on its truth. Give me deeper holiness in speech, thought, action, and let me not seek moral virtue apart from Thee.

Plough deep in me, great Lord, heavenly husbandman, that my being may be a tilled field, the roots of grace spreading far and wide, until Thou alone art seen in me, Thy beauty golden like summer harvest, Thy fruitfulness as autumn plenty.

I have no master but Thee, no law but Thy will, no delight but Thyself, no wealth but that Thou givest, no good but that Thou blessest, no peace but that Thou bestowest. I am nothing but that Thou makest me. I have nothing but that I receive from Thee. I can be nothing but that grace adorns me. Quarry me deep, dear Lord, and then fill me to overflowing with living water.

Amen

SPEAK UP

Proverbs 31:8  " Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute."

Lord, I am so grateful that You love us, regardless of our appearance, our wealth, our social or political status.  We cannot impress You, nor do we need to.  You have chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and inherit the kingdom.  In light of this, Father God, give me a compassionate heart.  Help me be as impartial in my love for others as You have been in loving me.  I love You.  Amen.

A New Day

The sun comes up
It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes

(Bless the Lord Oh My Soul) Matt Redman

Psalm 118:24 (NLT)
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Praise is always the best way to begin the day at sunrise or conclude it at sunset. It is a perfect bracket to indicate the value of that day as a gift of God and our desire and determination to live it for His glory. So, I offer this praise for Saturday July 7th.

Father, we thank You for the gift of this day. May its seconds, minutes and hours be filled with purposeful living and meaningful relationships. May your glory be our goal, your will our pleasure and your love the expression of our lives.

Others we encounter may be going through rough times in their lives. Help us to be helpful to them. May we be enabled to lift their burden, ease their pain, comfort their heart and give them a since of hope that only comes from You.

Father, at the end of this day, may we sleep in the peaceful rest of a satisfied life looking forward to sunrise tomorrow and the gift of another day.

We thank you for this Father in the Name of Your beloved Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Our freedom in Christ

Almighty Father, thank You for the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. Thank You that we are free from the bondage of the Law. Help us to hold to the truth of the freedom that we have through the victory of the cross of Christ no matter what our earthly circumstances may be. Protect Your Church from false teaching and help us to love one another. Grant us the fruit of the Spirit in increasing measure.  We are thankful forYour everlasting love.

a prayer for freedom

God of all ages, God of all places, God of all times and eternity,
Whose almighty hand has crafted and formed every people,
Whose gracious guidance has provided
rare and profound opportunities for our own nation,
help us all to understand our celebrations this July 4th holiday.

Help us to know how freedom
is to be more fully wrought
for all of Your children, here and elsewhere,
day by day by day.

Inspire us to see freedom
not as the right to do as we please,
but as new occasions to be pleased
to do what is right and good.

Lead us, O God, so that our trust in You
is not merely stamped upon our money
but expressed fully in our lives.

Help us to understand that liberty is made manifest best
by seeking Your will of peace and goodwill for one and all.

Give us courage to fend off all worldly fears,
especially the fear of standing in singular fashion
for the rights of humanity,
since that is how we were born.

As we have been made prosperous,
make us also good.
As we have been preserved in freedom,
preserve us also by justice.

And, dear Lord of our Lives, as we have been kept free,
will we now be kept true?
As we have become rich in things,
will we now become richer still in principles and munificence?

We pray this prayer with fervent hope
that we shall know Your truth
and it shall truly set us free. AMEN.

a prayer against shame

Father,

You are the God of all things victorious. Of all things beautiful. Of all things compassionate and gracious. Of all things grace.

In our sin, we can feel shameful. We can be ashamed of all we have done against You. But Lord, You never intend to make us feel shame about ourselves. Thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to convict us and make us aware of our guilt. But that is against what we've done, not who we are. So please, Father, convict us in our guilt. Help us to turn away from our sin. But help us to never feel ashamed of who we are. Because who we are is Your child. Your Son has given us his righteousness and so we are no longer merely sinners. We are victorious saints, standing in the truth of all that You have done.

Thank You, O Lord, for giving us this identity. This identity that we are Yours. So send away the shame! For we are forgiven and free through the power of Your name.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.(Galatians 2:20)

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. (Ephesians 3:12)

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. (Galatians 3:26)

We Have Been Set Free

Jesus, we praise you because you have set us free. Because you came and broke the chains, opening the prison gates, we no longer are bound by sin. Our freedom is such that no person or nation can give. We are now free to live as the children of the Father, trusting in his furious, inexhaustible love. Help us to live and grow in that freedom more and more each day. Amen

FREEDOM

II Corinthians 3:17  "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, and are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is Spirit."

Father, I praise You.  Through Jesus You have removed the veil of doubt from my mind so that I might understand Your Word more clearly.  You have removed the veil of bondage from my heart so that I might live in freedom before You.  You have removed the veil of darkness from my face so that I might reflect You light to others.  Help me to live boldly before You, realizing that you have placed me here to fill the world with the hope and glory of Christ.  I love You.  Amen.
