Praying Psalm 46

Dedicated to those who are suffering in the aftermath of recent shootings and storms.

God you are my refuge and my strength - the one I turn to in times of trouble.

I am turning to you today. I need your presence in my life.

I will not fear though the earth gives way.

I will trust you though the mountains be moved.

I will cling to you though the waters roar.

I will run to you.

Father have mercy on me.

My soul is refreshed by a river whose streams make glad your holy habitation.

My spirit soars to know that your are in the midst of that city.

Because of that, the city is unshakable and full of light.

Even though the nations rage and kingdoms fail, you are God.

In you I will be still and I will find rest.

You are with me. You are my fortress and my hiding place.

Lord Jesus have mercy on me.

When I consider the works of your hands, I remember how you have moved in history.

I am comforted and I take heart by the ways that you have moved in my life.

You bring peace and cause wars to cease.

You will bring our weapons to destruction.

In Jesus you have brought peace to the earth.

I rejoice that you have said:
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Help me to be still. Help me to trust you.

My heart sings knowing that the eternal Lord of hosts is with me.

The God of forever is my defender and you will fight for me Father.

Holy Spirit have mercy on me.

Amen
