Our world is a noisy, troublesome, and cruel place. Its offers of peace are shallow and temporary. We know that our only true and lasting peace comes from You. Our Lord Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I
give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be
troubled and do not be afraid.” How thankful and reassuring it is to read and
let Your promise go deep into our hearts. I pray that in light of this promise,
we won’t be anxious or fearful when tribulations come, but that we take heart
knowing You have overcome the world.
So, as much as possible, help us to make every effort to do
what leads to peace in our corner of this world, and we ask You to fill us with
all joy and peace as we trust in You, so that we may overflow with hope by the
power of the Holy Spirit. Let Your peace rule in our hearts as we give thanks
to You for that peace which transcends all understanding and guards our hearts
and our minds in Christ Jesus.
