Bless the Lord

O my soul, come, praise God with all that is in me, body, emotions, mind, and will, every part of who I am, praise His holy name! Sing a song from a grateful heart; sing and never forget all the good He has done!

Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer,
With His blood, He purchased me.
On the cross, He sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt, and made me free.

Gracious God, I want to bless Your holy name every day, for Your loving and kind heart is great! Thank You for taking all my sins and removing them, as far as east is from the west. You are a good, good Father and the incredible love that You lavish on me melts my heart and redeems and rescues me from the pits that I stumble into. Thank You, Father, for my entire life, every single day, that You have never, ever taken Your eyes off me. And you, O my soul, bless the Lord and forget not all His benefits every day. In Jesus' precious and holy name. Amen.

Father,

I pray You will give Your people joy. I pray that despite the troubles in this world, we may rejoice in who You are and what You done for us. Help us to even in the blackest night, rejoice in a great God who saves.

Peace

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
.

Father in these stressful times, when so much uncertainty grips our minds, I thank you for the peace you make available to us. Your peace is stronger than our fears, and greater than our finite understanding. Your peace is more comforting than any anxiety that may attempt to assail our faith. You guard our hearts and minds with the security of your wisdom and the power of your love. You say to us “fear not” and so we will not fear because of our trust in Your Word.

Thank you Father that through Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, we can relax in a restless world. It is truly the peace that passes all understanding.

Praise and Thanksgiving

I love this prayer.

O My God,
You fairest, greatest, first of all objects,
My heart admires, adores, loves You,
For my little vessel is as full as it can be,
And I would pour out all that fullness before You in ceaseless flow.
When I think upon and converse with You
Ten thousand delightful thoughts spring up,
Ten thousand sources of pleasure are unsealed,
Ten thousand refreshing joys spread over my heart,
Crowding into every moment of happiness.
I bless You for the soul You have created,
For adorning it, for sanctifying it,
Though it is fixed in barren soil;
For the body You have given me,
For preserving its strength and vigor,
For providing senses to enjoy delights,
For the ease and freedom of limbs,
For hands, eyes, ears that do Your bidding;
For Your royal bounty providing my daily support,
For a full table and overflowing cup,
For appetite, taste, sweetness,
For social joys of relatives and friends,
For ability to serve others,
For a heart that feels sorrows and necessities,
For a mind to care for my fellow-men,
For opportunities of spreading happiness around,
For loved ones in the joys of heaven,
For my own expectation of seeing You clearly.
I love You above the powers of language to express,
For what You are to Your creatures.
Increase my love, O my God, through time and eternity.
Amen

for those who preach without words

Lord Jesus, bless all who serve us,
who have dedicated their lives to the ministry of others:

All the teachers of our schools who labor so patiently with so little appreciation;

All who wait upon the public, the clerks in the stores who have to accept criticism, complaints, bad manners, selfishness at the hands of a thoughtless public.
Bless the mailmen, the drivers of streetcars and buses who must listen to people who lose their tempers.

Bless every humble soul who, in these days of stress and strain, preaches sermons without words.

Amen.

Prayer in any language....

So thankful that when we lift our voices to God, He hears our prayers. It doesn't matter what language we are speaking, He knows. The Holy Spirit knows.

The words we utter are simply our words... The power of those spoken words comes from our God. The Spirit of God within us will resonate with the Spirit of God in those we pray for.

There is no need for interpretation.... no need for explanation..... the only need is a heart of trust, belief and faith in the One who is Healer of all.....

Thank you Jesus for the faith of this Nicaraguan man who requested prayer yesterday.... May he be healed and restored in Jesus Name.....

Decisions

Sometimes things would be easier if I were not given a choice.  I have been told that there are only three types of chemo-therapy that work for my type of cancer, and they have all proved inadequately effective in dealing with it. This leaves me with two choices. I can go off treatment and let nature take its course and trust God to accomplish what He wants to in my life. Or I can try to get on a clinical test in the hopes that it might help. It does not help in all of this that it looks like my wife's cancer may have come back. It would be easier to trust God with one option or the other than to have to choose. But I must choose.

Father,

I pray for all those who face difficult decisions, including me. I pray that You will give us wisdom to know which decision to make. I pray that we may approach the issue with calmness and trust in You. I pray that we may not be stampeded one way or the other out of fear. And I pray that whatever decision we make, You will overrule and work things for our best.

PRAYER FOR FATHERS

Howard Dill ~ my father (me on the right)

Dear Father, You are the perfect father, our Heavenly Father.  You are the model.  However in our fallen world, not everyone has experienced a good or wonderful father.  Today we pray for those, that your love and compassion will embrace them, and they can know a loving father by loving You.
For those of us who were so fortunate to have godly fathers, like mine, I thank You.  He was human, he was flawed, but he loved me deeply and was devoted to You.

Today we celebrate and pray for all Fathers, everywhere.

Praying for You

Romans 15:13 (NLT)
13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Apostle Paul’s prays for the Christians in Rome, and really for Christians everywhere, that in their hardships, difficulties and challenges of living for Christ they will experience the joy, peace and hope only Christ can give. And this comes as a result of their trust in God and the power of the Holy Spirit at work in their life.

I pray dear friends and fellow believers that you also “will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” That the joy and peace of God will sustain you in your daily walk with Him.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

God bless you in the name of Him who gives us abundant and eternal life, Jesus our Lord.

Steadfast faith and love

Father God, we thank You for Your church everywhere. We are especially grateful for Your grace to our brothers and sisters who are being afflicted throughout the world. We know that their pain is not the end of the story. Your Son is coming again. He is our hope. Grant to us steadfastness, faith and love in every difficulty. Build us up in our faith and help us to build one another up in love. Make us worthy of the wonderful calling that we have received. Amen

Be Still

Be still and know that I am God. -Psalm 46:10

I do and do
and strive and strive
and try to figure things out,
forgetting that life
was meant to be lived
in reliance on you.

Help me to still my body
and my mind
so that I can rest
in your presence,
so that I can know again
that you are God.

He remembers...

My prayer today is that we all remain mindful of the power of God's Word. That we fall face first into the scriptures and lose ourselves in Him. I pray that we long for the Word. That we hunger for it. Thirst for it. That we would read it and study it and let it change us.

There is so much to learn from the pages of the written word. God shows us that even in our rebellion and disobedience, we can still find Him faithful! What a powerful and loving God we serve.....

Today, purpose to open the pages of our bibles and let Him speak.

"Yet He took note of their distress when He heard their cry;
for their sake He remembered....." (Psalm 106:44,45)

He will always remember His children.....

Patience

Father,

Give Your people patience. Help us to trust You when faced with trying people and circumstances. Help us to remember Your great patience with us. Help us to put things in perspective that we may not be irritated by little things. Help us to lay aside the unrealistic expectations that so often lead to impatience.

PRAYER OF PRAISE

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true, the only light.
Son of righteousness arise,
Triumph over shades of night;
Dayspring from on high be near,
Daystar, in my heart appear.

Visit then this soul of mine,
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
Fill me, radiancy divine,
Scatter all my unbelief;
More and more yourself display,
Shining to the perfect day.

Integrity

A person’s last words and prayers give deep insight into their heart and faith. Such is the perception that King David’s last words and prayers reveal to us.

1 Chronicles 29:17a & 18 (NLT)
“I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there……”  18 “O LORD, the God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make your people always want to obey you. See to it that their love for you never changes.”

Father I echo David’s prayer for all of us that we will always obey you with our hearts overflowing with love. There is no greater command you have given to us and there is no greater obedience that we can render to you than to love and obey you out of the integrity of a faithful life.

And so Father I would also pray with David: ”  Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalm 139:23-24 (NLT)

In Jesus loving and faithful name.

Freedom

Our gracious heavenly Father,

How thankful we are for the freedom we have in Christ and that we have been freed from the bondage of the Law. Give to us true faith that works in love and help us to hold to the truth of the freedom we have through the victory of Christ. We've been set free to be free. We ask You to protect the Church from false teaching and help us to be discerning as we teach and as we listen. Thank You for Your Spirit who guides us into all truth. Teach us to walk by Your Spirit and not by what feels good or sounds good. We turn away from all godlessness and ask that You grant to us the fruit of the Spirit in increasing measure. We belong to Jesus Christ and are thankful for Your everlasting love that drew us to You.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Today

"The past, the present and the future are really one: they are today." -HB Stowe

Lord help me to live in the now.

Remind me that the past is only useful when it teaches me about how to live today.

Help me to let go of past failures and successes.

Cause me to live in freedom and to not fear the future.

Help me to know that you are the Lord of my future and that all I need to do is trust you today.

You have given this day to me - in that I will rejoice!

Self-Control

Father,

I pray for Your people to exercise self-control. I pray it particularly because of this present age, which is hostile to any sort of self-control. Help us resist everything that is set against us to tempt us to follow our  impulses. Help us to go against the flow of our culture. But let us not exercise self-control merely for self-control's sake, but to exhibit love for God and our neighbor. So that our self-control may not be a cold, aloof  thing, but a warm, loving thing that can attract others to You.

In Jesus' Name,

MAN'S PLANS ~ GOD'S PURPOSES

Proverbs 19:21
"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."

Sovereign Lord, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are Your ways higher than our ways and Your thoughts than our thoughts.  So I surrender my will to Your will and I pray that only Your purposes will be accomplished in my life.  ~ Not my will, but yours be done.~  I love You.  Amen.

Friend

1 Chronicles 27:33 (NIV)    ”Hushai the Arkite was the king's friend.

Father as I think of King David and how he was surrounded by a great variety of people who sustained him on the battle field and in city life. All played their strategic roll from servants to counselors. None were more important to him than Hushai.

Father, to be singled out and distinguished as the friend of King David was not only a great honor but also an acknowledgement of his personal value to David. We can be many things to people but to be their friend is truly special.

And Father you gave Hushai to David as a gift to express your love and kindness to him. A friend who was both wise and honest. What a blessing and encouragement he must have been to David.

Father, how thankful I am for the gracious friends you have brought into my life. My wife, children, extended family, friends near and far, all incredibly important to me and without whom life would be a void too lonely to imagine. Thank you, Father, for all of my beloved friends, and especially for Jesus the friend of all who will embrace him.

Pour Out Your Heart

Help me trust in You at all times; help me to pour out my heart to You, God, for You are my refuge (Ps. 62:8). O Lord, help me not be afraid to speak to You what's on my heart. Your Word says You know my thoughts and my actions, and You know what I'm going to say before a word forms on my tongue (Ps. 139:1-4). You will never be offended when I pour out the earnest despair and bitterness that wells in my heart. You desire for me to cry out in my agony, and You can take my feelings of anger, dismay, and confusion. In pouring my heart out to You, I rid myself of soul-cancerous bitterness. I also make room for You to pour in Your healing.

Amen
