A Song of Prayer

This song has been on my mind for some time now. It has long been a favorite and a prayer of my heart, yet I still struggle with how to live the words. "Take my moments and my days..." I am learning how to let them go, still stubborn and holding on much of the time, but making progress. When I find myself grumbling, the Lord gently brings the words back to mind. I wish I could say I have arrived, but sadly, this is not the case.

Take my life, and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee;
take my moments and my days,
let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move
at the impulse of thy love;
take my feet, and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing
always, only, for my King;
take my lips, and let them be
filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold,
not a mite would I withhold;
take my intellect, and use
every power as thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
take my heart, it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store;
take my self, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee.

Amen

  1. Great song to pray Martha! I am learning how to let my life go too. I think that might be what Paul means when he uses the phrase "living sacrifice".

  2. Hi Martha, I haven't heard that song in a while. It was nice to read it through as a prayer.

  3. I love that old hymn, but some of the verses are new to me.

    I so want this song to be carried out in my life too.
