Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

He can

Prayer.

Our lifeline.
Our hope.
Our everything.

Prayer draws us closer to God. Draws us to deeper intimacy with our LORD.
Prayer enables, empowers and encourages our spirits.

When we aren’t.....He is.

When we can’t....He can.

When we cry out we can know that He hears us. He loves us. He cares for us deeply.

When we neglect our prayer lives, we neglect our relationship with Christ.

Do we want to grow spiritually? We must pray.

Do we want to be transformed by Him? We must pray.

Do we want to honor and glorify Him in all that we do? We must pray.

God is available and attentive to our cries, our praise and our petitions. All we have to do is fix our gaze upon Him...fall before Him....and lift our voices to Him.

And He hears.

a prayer of surrender

O Great and Powerful God,

We stand small and weak before You, knowing Your power and might. Thankful that we can know You, be loved by You, and trust in who You are.

Help us surrender, Father. Surrender to Your will for our lives. Bind us to Your heart, knowing that in all Jesus did, we are Yours forever. In our rebelliousness, help us to obey. In our stubbornness, make us pliable. In our pride, give us humility. For Father, you are the One True God, in whom all things are possible. Bend our will to Yours alone.

Three Persons and one God, I bless and praise thee,
for love so unmerited, so unspeakable, so wondrous,
so mighty to save the lost and raise them to glory.
O Father, I thank thee that in fullness of grace
thou hast given me to Jesus,
to be his sheep, jewel, portion;
O Jesus, I thank thee that in fullness of grace
thou hast accepted, espoused, bound me;
O Holy Spirit, I thank thee that in fullness of grace
thou hast exhibited Jesus as my salvation,
implanted faith within me,
subdued my stubborn heart,
made me one with him for ever.

BILLY GRAHAM ~ GOD'S SERVANT

 Image result for billy graham

In tribute to a mighty but humble servant of Jesus Christ, I would like to share some of his quotes from my Worship Bible, and make my prayer one of thankfulness for Billy Graham's faithfulness to his Lord and Savior and to the Word of God.

" Our valleys may be filled with foes and tears; but we can lift our eyes to the hills to see God and the angles, heaven's spectators, who support us according to God's infinite wisdom as they prepare our welcome home."  ~ Billy Graham

"Christ made it clear that his coming , far from meaning peace, meant war.  His message was a fire that would set society ablaze with division and strife."   ~Billy Graham

"Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion ~it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ." ~ Billy Graham

"God proved his love on the cross.  When Christ hung and bled and died it was God saying to the world ~~I love you.    ~Billy Graham

"God does not discipline us to subdue us, but to condition us for a life of usefulness
and blessedness."  ~Billy Graham

"It is contrary to reason for a thirsty person to turn from a pure, sparkling mountain stream to quench his thirst from a stale, putrid cistern ~~yet that is what the human race does when it rejects God's truth and standards in favor of the devil's impure philosophies."  ~ Billy Graham

"It can be so easy at times to say we love people, and be completely honest and sincere in our expression.  But so often we don't see the lonely person in a crowd, or the sick and destitute man or woman whose only hope of escape may be the love we can give through Christ.  The love of God would have us reach down to each person.  ~ Billy Graham

These wonderful quotes show just a tiny glimpse into the man of God.  We love you, Billy Graham, you impacted our lives, and showed us Christ by your life and your ministry.  We look forward to seeing you in heaven.

Billy, Ruth, and God

Billy and Ruth were married for 64 years, and Billy Graham often said his ministry would have been impossible without his wife. They were called as a team.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT)
9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?  12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Father, in remembering your great and humble servant, Billy Graham, we also remember his wife Ruth and the balance and wisdom she brought to their life and ministry. Father they were a dynamic dual formed in your grace, to blend their lives together, in such a way that the world will forever remember their influence and impact for the Kingdom of God.

Thank You for their faithfulness to the Gospel, their vision for the world, and the example of their commitment to marriage and the family. Thank You for braiding them by Your Spirit into “a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

In the Name of Jesus our Savior, whom Billy Graham so enthusiastically and faithfully preached. Amen. PS – Now in heaven, it must have been quite a welcome home!!!

To God be the Glory!

Lord, I worship You for what I know about You and for what I don’t understand about You. You are too wonderful for words and beyond my comprehension. And yet, You call me to Yourself. I worship You for all You do in my life that I understand, and for all I don’t understand. Everything happens because of You, and through You, and for Your glory. To God be the glory forever. Amen

Billy Graham's Crusade Prayer

Many of us are rejoicing that Billy Graham no longer suffers and has passed on to heaven. To remember him, here is a prayer that he prayed over 60 years ago at Madison Square Garden at the New York Crusade in 1957. It is appropriate for us today.

Our Father and our God, we pray that … we all might be conscious that Thine eye is upon us. If God can see the sparrow fall, if He has the hairs of our head numbered, we know that He watches us, that He loves us, that He cares for us, and we’re told in Thy Word that He cares for us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to the cross to die that we might find forgiveness of our sins. We pray … that Thy Holy Spirit will draw all men unto the Savior, for we ask it in His Name. Amen.

a prayer for when feeling lost

Gracious God,

We praise you that you do not change, that you are righteous, holy, and worthy of worship. We lift your name high, because you are the only true God! One who makes us feel sure when all else around us feels unsure.

There are so many times we feel lost, Father. We feel lost in the brokenness of the world, in the midst of our sin, or when people sin against us. We can feel lost and run right the things that overwhelm us rather than to you. We can feel stuck in all that is unsure. Help us to find the certainty in who you are, Lord. The surety of your plan for our lives, the certainty of your love. We know we cannot change the world to be a certain place, but help us to know that we can be sure of the One who never changes: you.

Guide us and lead us, O God, into your great love.

"...even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me." (Psalm 139:10)

Great and Holy God

Great and holy God
awe and reverence
fear and trembling
do not come easily to us
for we are not
Old Testament Jews
or Moses
or mystics
or sensitive enough.
Forgive us
for slouching into Your presence
with little expectation
and less awe
than we would eagerly give a visiting dignitary.
We need
neither Jehovah nor a buddy-
neither “the Great and Powerful Oz” nor “the man upstairs.”
Help us
to want what we need...
You God
and may the altar of our hearts
tremble with delight
at
Your visitation
Amen

THE BODY OF CHRIST

Romans 15:30  "I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me."

Thank You, Father, for the fellowship of the Spirit in the body of Christ.  Thank You that when we come to You in prayer we are joined to one another.  How comforting it is to know that, even when I am separated physically from my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am never alone as long as I am in their prayers.  Thank You for praying friends.  I love You.  Amen

What Then Should We Do?

Titus 2:11-12 (NLT)
“ 11 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,”

Father the salvation you have given to us through your grace, and in Christ alone, clearly instructs us how to live in this evil world. With wisdom to expose the deceitful and deadly consequences of sin. With righteousness to exemplifying a life that God blesses and one that brings peace to others. And with true devotion to you in gratitude for your forgiveness, and the abundant joy we have in our fellowship with you.

Father, may your light so shine through us that it may be said of us: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:5 (NLT) This then is what we can do to counter the evil times in which we live.

Father, in the name of him who is the light of the world help us to shine. Amen!

Prayers for Parkland

Jesus, today we pause to lift up everyone affected by the horrific school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Students, teachers, faculty, parents, family members, friends, loved ones. Be near to them in this moment. Hold their trembling hands and wrap them within the comfort of Your safe and loving arms.

The ones we lost yesterday were loved, treasured, cared for, and now grieved over. These losses are devastating. So many need the supernatural peace and reassurance right now that only You bring, Lord.

So we turn to You, because Your Word promises when we draw near to You, You draw near to us. In the coming days, Lord, show us how to process this heartbreaking news, how to pray specifically for those who lost their children and loved ones, and how to help dispel the evil that is in this world.

Yes, evil is real. Evil is horrible.

But with You, evil does not win.

Jesus, help us be comforted by Your promise and this truth.

Amen.

for the victims

Dear Lord,

Another senseless killing of innocents has been reported in Florida.

Our hearts break for the victims and their families.

Come and comfort this community in Florida.

We find ourselves bereft of answers to gun violence.

May your Spirit flow in our nation and give wisdom to our leaders.

Cause minds to be open to your influence that more will not be slaughtered.

Open the hearts of mayors, governors, members of congress and our president.

We pray, as Jesus taught us, for your kingdom to come and your will to be done.

Bring heaven to this earth Lord. To Florida. To America. To this world.

In Christ's name.

Amen

the beauty of it

The beauty of an intimate relationship with God is the ability to speak to Him. Our prayers go up as our hearts cry out in fear, need, despair or even thanksgiving, and we have the amazing assurance from His Word that He hears.

Not only does He hear, but Our LORD cares and He responds to the beckoning of our souls.

There is nothing that you can't take before our God. No problem is too big or too small. No situation is beyond His control. Nothing has happened that He hasn't already ordained.

Carve out intentional time to spend on your knees or on your face before Him. Pour out. Be still. Listen. And receive mercy and grace as you allow Him to minister so sweetly to your mind, spirit and body. He is the answer to all of our prayers.

Abide

Father,

You are the Gardener of our lives. The great vinedresser, you sees our needs even when we don't. You tend and  you care to the parts of our lives that need pruning. When we are in the midst of an abundance of mess, Father, you see past what is overgrown in our lives and reveal to us what must be cut back.

Your providential care is there in all our moments. When we can't see the branches in our lives that are withered and dead, You remove them. When our branches are not bearing fruit, You cut them back. This is hard, Father, because our branches come from us. We've put them there because they make us comfortable. But You know what we need, and when we don't bear fruit, help us to trust Your pruning shears.

Father, we must abide in You. Help us to understand this, O Lord... what it means to sit with You, to be so close to You we can feel Your sweet presence and Your everlasting love. Because to abide means to follow, to be ruled by, to hold fast. This can only be done in You for us to live in accordance with Your will.

Good, good Father, help us to abide.

PRAYING THE PSALMS

 Psalm 92:1-5 (Wanda's paraphaise)

Oh Lord, it is good to praise You, and make music to exalt your Holy Name.
To proclaim Your love in the early morning hours, and Your faithfulness as I lay down at night.
In my mind I hear the music of the ten stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
Your wonderful deeds make me so glad and I sing for joy at the works of Your hands.
How great are Your works...How profound Your thoughts.
I love You.  Amen.

The God of Glory With Us

Psalm 19:1-4 (NLT)
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.  2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. 4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.

Father, what a great witness the silent night sky reveals. In the heavens we behold your glory, craftsmanship, knowledge, power and wisdom.  And though the stars of innumerable galaxies are so distant from us You are not. Your presence is with us and through faith in Your Son Jesus You live in us.

Father, we behold Your witness, not only in the heavens but also in the Scripture where You tell us: Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)

Father, thank you, not only for the wonder of your creation, but especially the wonder of Your presence with and in us. You are truly our Immanuel.

In the Name of Your beloved Son and our Savior, we give you praise and thanks. Amen.

Pray for our Nation

Dear Father God,
My heart is heavy with concern for our leaders and our nation. There is much chaos, confusion and deception among us. We, the people of this country, are daily fed with information that is disheartening and news that cause men's hearts to fail. Help us, strengthen us to trust You more each day knowing that You are sovereign and nothing can thwart Your plan. You our God are in the midst of us and we must not worry or be anxious or fearful, but we are to make our requests to You with thanksgiving.

We thank You for the many, many blessings of grace You have poured out on us and we intercede on behalf of our nation, asking forgiveness for our sin and rebellion, and ask that You would have mercy on us. Would you guide our leaders with Your strength and wisdom and give strength and protection for each new day. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit over this land and bring people to You. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen

Prayer for Olympians

Thanks Lord for being with those who are competing in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Send blessing and peace into their lives and help them to perform at their best.

Enable each to get up when they fall. Make each stronger through struggle.

Cause this experience to one that inspires them to see others the way you do.

Help them to make friends from other countries and bonds that make for peace.

Inspire each Olympian to represent their country with class and dignity.

In the end we pray that you would change these to be more like our Lord Jesus.

Amen

a prayer for when we are wrong

Father God,

You are good and faithful, our God who knows the answers to all our questions and understands all we are going through. You are our strength and power, and our great Creator.  You are as close as our family, yet infinitely wiser than we could ever know. Sometimes this makes us feel small.

And we feel that even more when we are wrong.

We confess to you how hard it is for us to be wrong. To be wrong and to admit when we are wrong. When we cannot admit we are wrong, this is pride at its worst. Help us to be humble. Help us to see our own limitations, our own mistakes, and how our pride in all situations can affect others.

You are Jehovah-M’Kaddesh, the God who sanctifies. Sanctify us in our pride, Lord! Use this for our growth so that we may continue to walk with a spirit of humility in order to show the world Jesus.

In Your Son's Name We Pray,

Amen

The Goodness of God

“Only God is truly good.”
Luke 18:19 (NLT)

Exodus 33:18-19 (NLT)

18 Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.” 19 The LORD replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you……”.

Exodus 34:5-7 (NLT)
5 Then the LORD came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh. 6The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. 7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin…….”

Psalm 86:5 (NLT)
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

Father in your great goodness we see all of the grace, love and forgiveness available to us through faith in your Son. The words of the song “I am Not Worthy” expresses this so well:

I am not worthy the least of His favor,
But Jesus left heaven for me;
The Word became flesh and He died as my Savior,
Forsaken on dark Calvary.

Chorus:
I am not worthy this dull tongue repeats it!
I am not worthy this heart gladly beats it?
Jesus left heaven to die in my place
What mercy, what love and what grace!

Thank you Father for the infinite abundance of grace that flows from the incredible goodness of your heart.

We give you thanks and praise through Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen.

His Power

Dear God, I know that I cannot do all You have called me to do, except that Your divine Spirit enables me to do it. I depend on Your help to get me where I need to go. You are the Light of my life and You go before me, light my path and guide each step. Thank You that it is not by might, nor by power, but by Your Spirit that Your will is accomplished as I abide in You and walk in obedience. Thank You, Amen

Show me patience to care for the one I love,

Show me peace of mind as I struggle through each day and night,

Show me the joy in the little things my loved one does to help me out,

Show me love when anger wants to take over my thoughts,

Show me hope when I can see no hope,

And Lord, show me kindness for those who care about me.
