Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Focus

Jesus, help us to remember that it is all about you. In the middle of all that we do to build our own kingdoms, remind us that if you are not in it, it will mean nothing. Keep our focus on you. Amen

Journey

Romans 15:29 (NLT)
   And I am sure that when I come, Christ will richly bless our time together.

Father, we are on another journey. We will be seeing family and friends and enjoy the delight of fellowship with them. How grateful we are that in life’s journey you provide the encouragement, the joy, and the support of such a loving circle of life.  Above all that we thank you for your friendship and care that makes all these others blessings possible. What a wonderful life.

be watchful

"We must be as watchful after the VICTORY
as we were before the battle."
(Andrew Bonar)

~~~~~~~~
Let's remember that our prayer lives aren't just for our times of crisis. Our prayer lives are to be a continual and intimate outpouring of our love for and our relationship with God. Prayer is intended to be an attitude that we possess every second of the day. Let's remember to spend time praising and thanking him and be diligent to spend as much time in prayer during the good times as we do during the bad times.
Prayer for Autumn Days
God of the seasons, there is a time for everything; there is a time for dying and a time for rising. We need courage to enter into the transformation process.
God of autumn, the trees are saying goodbye to their green, letting go of what has been. We, too, have our moments of surrender, with all their insecurity and risk. Help us to let go when we need to do so.
God of fallen leaves lying in colored patterns on the ground, our lives have their own patterns. As we see the patterns of our own growth, may we learn from them.
God of misty days and harvest moon nights, there is always the dimension of mystery and wonder in our lives. We always need to recognize your power-filled presence. May we gain strength from this.
God of harvest wagons and fields of ripened grain, many gifts of growth lie within the season of our surrender. We must wait for harvest in faith and hope. Grant us patience when we do not see the blessings.
God of geese going south for another season, your wisdom enables us to know what needs to be left behind and what needs to be carried into the future. We yearn for insight and vision.
God of flowers touched with frost and windows wearing white designs, may your love keep our hearts from growing cold in the empty seasons.
God of life, you believe in us, you enrich us, you entrust us with the freedom to choose life. For all this, we are grateful.
Prayer for the Church
Father, we pray for your Church. Defeat the evil that seeks to destroy it. Encourage, comfort, and strengthen your people as they carry out your mission of reconciliation. Hold our leaders up and give them your strength. Keep us in unity in Christ. We thank you that your kingdom will come and your will be done on this earth as it is in heaven. Amen
NOTHING, NOTHING
You washed our hearts, sealed us with Your Spirit
We are now secure, held in Your hands
Your blood has covered, purchased, ransomed
The cross can never be undone
The cross can never be undone
Nothing, nothing can separate us
The gates of hell, You have overcome
Nothing, nothing can separate us
From the Father's love.
We have a hope found in You, Jesus
There's no other name by which we are saved
Your grace has spoken kindness, favor
Your mercy's already won
Your mercy's already won.
We were dead, but ow we're living
We were outcasts, now forgiven
The Son has set us free
And we are free  indeed
We were ruined, now we're righteous
Through the sacrifice of Jesus
You have set us free
And we are free indeed.
DECEPTION
Mark 13:5 (NIV)
     Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NLT)
     13 These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness……
Father, these are strait forward, stark and startling warnings about the greatest challenge people face, that is, simply being lied to. No one is better at this than Satan. That’s why Jesus said of Satan: ……He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44 (NLT)
Father, understanding and being aware of the false tactics Satan uses, help us to be devoted seekers of truth as you have so well give it to us in your Word, the Bible. And help us to “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 (NLT)
Thank you Father for the truth that always defeats deception.
For this reason, take up all the armor that God supplies. Then you will be able to take a stand during these evil days. Once you have overcome all obstacles, you will be able to stand your ground.” Ephesians 6:13 (GW)
perfect submission
Is our prayer submissive?
Why do we typically bow our heads in prayer? We do it as a sign of submission. It is a physical representation of the respect, awe and holy fear we have for our Creator and our God.
We certainly don't have to bow our heads to talk to God, but our physical posture can greatly affect our experience with prayer. There is just something so emotionally altering in our hearts when we bow in reverence, get on our knees or even on our faces in prayer. It is humbling. It is surrendering. It is acknowledging His holiness and His authority and His worth and acknowledging our absolute dependence upon that.
We are to submit our will to His. We come seeking and expecting His will to be done and His kingdom to prevail. The act of prayer places us in a position where He can work in us and on us if we are willing to submit totally to Him.
Our submission to Him comes before our petition begins. When we approach God's holy throne in prayer, we are not approaching Him based on our authority. We come only through the authority of Christ. So even though our submission comes before the prayer begins, the most important moment of submission comes at the end of our prayer. When we come to the close of our prayer, we must say, "In Jesus' name". We are then yielding ourselves, our will and our prayers to our Father and we are hallowing His name. Jesus gave us the perfect illustration of submission during His prayer in the garden of Gethsemane.
"He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done"
Luke 22:41-42
A PRAYER FOR SUNDAY
"Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty; heaven and earth are full of Thy Glory; glory be to Thee, O Lord most high."
"O God, I crave Thy blessing upon this day of rest and refreshment.  Let me rejoice today in Thy worship and find gladness in the singing of Thy praises.  ...Help me to step aside for a little while from the busy life of common days.   ...I pray for every group of men and women who are met together to praise and magnify Thy Name."   Amen.
FRESH
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT)
22The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His
mercies never cease. 23Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Father to awaken each morning with the smell of fresh baked bread, what a pleasing aroma, and how it sets the mood for a pleasant day. How much infinitely more joy it is to awaken with the sense of your presence and your gracious mercy afresh each morning. In this way you make each day special, sacred and a song to sing.
Truly, as the Psalmist wrote: “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (NLT)
Thank you Father for the manna of fresh mercy this morning
A Prayer on September 11
Lord God Almighty, please protect the people of this nation today--and everyday, but certainly today.
Give wisdom and vigilance to those men and women who are on the front lines of our nation's defense, at home and abroad. Make them alert. Keep them safe. And help them to do their jobs well.
Deliver us from dangers known and unknown, seen and unseen, in city and town. Protect those who travel, those who assemble, those who provide services, those who may be most exposed, whether they know it or not.
Let this day--and those to come--end in peace and safety for young and old, high and low, rich and poor, religious and irreligious, and please give this world's leaders greater wisdom, vision, and courage to do what is right and what is best for the safety of those they lead, in Jesus' name, amen.
what is prayer?
Prayer is much more than the words of our lips; it is the desires of our hearts, and our hearts are constantly 'desiring' before Him. - (Warren Wiersbe)
Truly, our hearts need to be in a constant state of prayer. We need to "pray without ceasing" as it tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Does that mean that we are to be bowed to Him in prayer 24 hours a day?  On our faces in prayer every minute of every hour? No, it means that we need to be in the posture of prayer at all times. Always aware of our God's presence and always aware of our deep need for Him. It is about our hearts being in tune with our LORD and Savior and in constant and loving communion with the Father. Praying without ceasing is about having holy desires in our hearts at all times.
Even if our mouths never speak a word out loud, our hearts can be uttering praise and thanksgiving and confession and repentance and petition to a very worthy and very Holy and very good God!
"Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed by thy Name"
(Matthew 6:9)
Help us to be Diligent Caretakers | Praying Psalm 8
LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
I am in awe of how you speak through the smallest amongst us.. amazed at how even children can say the wisest things.. your wisdom is boundless and causes us to triumph over the enemies of our souls.
When I look at the sky, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, I wonder.. what is man that you are mindful of him.. and the son of man that you care for him?
I rejoice in you Lord because you have made us a little lower than heavenly beings and crowned us with glory and honor. I rejoice that we are made in your image!
You have given us dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under our feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
Lord help us to be diligent caretakers of your creation and prayerful shepherds over humanity.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Amen
Dependence
John 15:5 (NLT)
   “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
     For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Father, what an interesting paradox: “nothing   everything.”  Two words that seem contradictory but are in fact valid and true because they express our exact and total dependence on You. Our next heartbeat, breath, step and every aspect of life is dependent on your purpose, power and presence.
Father forgive our arrogance for thinking we can do life our way with any lasting meaning. Forgive our ignorance for not knowing that you have provided the way to life and living through Your Son. And forgive our reluctance to quickly and wholeheartedly trust and obey Your Words of life.
Father, may we be mindful of Job’s wisdom and learn from his experience life’s most important lesson. “For the life of every living thing is in His hand, and the breath of every human being.”  Job 12:10 (NLT)
Amen
spiritual quality of prayer
I love this quote by A.W. Tozer about prayer:
"The spiritual quality of a prayer is determined not by
its intensity but by its origin"
He says, that in evaluating prayer, we should inquire who is doing the praying - our determined hearts, or the Holy Spirit?
You see, our prayers should originate with the Spirit. The Word tells us in Romans 8:26, "We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us."
In our flesh, we are unable to pray effectively. Our prayers become worldly and carnal. We can become victims of our own desires instead of willing servants to be yielded to the will of our Father. When we come before our Father in prayer, we need to be Spirit minded. We need to be focused on His will and His desire for our lives. We don't always know what that is, but the precious Holy Spirit does! Our way will always be lined with the selfish desires of our heart, but His way will always be for our best and for His kingdom glory!
Let's be mindful of this when we bow our hearts in prayer to our God. Let's always be yielded to Him and allow His Spirit to move within us and voice our petition. We know that His way is always the best way and if we submit ourselves to Him and His Holy Spirit, our hearts will be one with Him and His desires for us will become our desires as well.
