Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

soar on wings like eagles

I have a few friends who suffer from chronic depression. Some of these friends are only teenagers… a time of life that is supposed to be carefree and happy.

Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God.

Please join me today in Isaiah 40 and pray to the Lord.

A voice of one calling:
"In the desert prepare
the way for the LORD;
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God.

Like John the Baptist before us, we each have a role to play in God’s plan.

Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.

And oh what a plan it is. Lord, today we ask you to guide our friends out of the valley of darkness and into the light. Reach out to those who are lost and show them the way.

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

Lord, allow our friends to overcome fatigue with a renewed sense of hope and purpose. Breathe into them new life. Give them a sense of presence in this world.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.

Lord, we pray for those people in our lives who must fight depression every day—a fight that often becomes even more challenging in this holiday season.

They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint

Jesus, you promise to restore health and heal souls. Today, we ask you to be the wings for our dear friends, lift them high and hold them tight in your hands.

Amen

  2. Sometimes life slugs us some hard blows. I believe this is mostly the enemy attacking us. Especially when we are praying people he attacks people closest to us to try and get at us that way. To try and make us despondent and despairing. Today I was even thinking maybe it's a waste of time to pray for some people who have heard the gospel but seem determined that they don't want to know about God. But I was just feeling depressed and then I spoke to one of my christian friends and she reminded me of what I already know. God wills that none should perish. I know this is true because God says it, but today I was questioning yeah but what about mans free will. It's hard hey? But we must remember we don't know the mind of God and His ways are higher than ours. And my friend reminded me to keep praying for Tony because I've done the planting and now God can do the watering even if it's on someones deathbed they give their heart to Jesus it's worth it. And the Lord showed me in His Word last night if an unbelieving husband leaves us we are to called to be at peace and not be upset about it. I've been feeling down but I know God is carrying me through this. Thankyou for your posting on Isaiah 40 Ed. I'll be praying it too especially for our young people in this world. I have a 26yr old daughter and a 23 yrold son who need alot of prayer. They are precious and have been through alot in their lives. But I know the Lord has them in His hands
